Spike Lee buys Now The Hell Will Start

Spike Lee has grabbed the rights to Brendan Koerner’s book Now The Hell Will Start, with plans to develop it into a film.

Koerner investigated the story of Private Herman Perry, a black soldier from Washington who, after killing one of his fellow soldiers, went on the run in the Burmese jungle during World War Two.

He ended up assimilating himself into the native tribal culture.

After tackling Miracle At St Anna, Lee is obviously into World War Two, but there’s no word on when the film will start, especially since he’s busy developing the Inside Man sequel.
