Spielberg To Chart History Of The Future

Discovery, Spielberg & DreamWorks Team on mini-series Future Earth , an epic generational dramatised look at the future set 25, 50 and 100 years from now

The US Discovery Channel has announced that it is develoing a new mini-series project with Steven Spielberg, DreamWorks Television and DreamWorks Animation SKG called Future Earth, set 25, 50 and 100 years into the future.

The mini-series aims to examine what the near-future might realistically be like in a dramatised, draw from a vast number of sources, including the leading futurists, scholars and great minds of today. It will make educated predictions about such aspects of life as health and medicine, technology, the environment, the military, the economy and media. Sounds like a more academic of Things To Come to us.

Speilberg will apparently be more than just a figurehead, promising to be personally involved in overseeing the project. “I am excited to be back in business with DreamWorks Animation and all the active imaginations and creative artists at the best animation company in the world today. Joining together with Discovery, we have an opportunity to bring exciting new experiences to take television audiences into the imagined future of planet Earth,” says Spielberg.

Spielberg is no stranger to this kind of project. He worked with many leading futurologists and scientists in creating the world of Minority Report (as pictured).
