British actress Sarah Winter (who we'll soon see in the early years of Doctor Who drama An Adventure In Space And Time ) , has nabbed a leading role in The CW pilot The Selection .
Sounding like a small screen version of The Hunger Games ,The Selection has been developed by Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain ( Dollhouse , The Vampire Diaries ). It's set 300 years in the future and concerns a working class woman (Israeli actress Yael Grobglas) who is reluctantly chosen by lottery to participate in a competition for the hand of a prince (Michael Malarkey) and thus become the nation’s next queen. According to TVLine , Winter will play Ashley Brovillette, a naïve young woman thrilled to be among the Selection’s participants.
The show also recently added Anthony Head to its cast ; he’ll be playing a king, because he’s good at kings.
In An Adventure In Space And Time Winter is playing Delia Derbyshire, the pioneering electronic musician who arranged Doctor Who’s original theme tune.
