So, Namco Bandai has just announced Ivy's Boobs: Part 5 (Oh come on, you know the main point of interest in the Soulcalibur series these daysis watching in transfixed horror to see how much worse it mangles and caricatures the female form with every intallment). Previously rumoured, the official reveal camethis morningat an event in Dubai. Mattcame into work latetoday. He claimed he had a dentist appointment, but he's looking pretty brown. That Soul Calibur t-shirt's new as well...

Potential editorial deception aside though, the main point is that SoulcaliburV is happening. There will be more details at E3, but we have a smattering of appetisers for you right now (both good and potentially bad), and a shakycam of the trailer fromthis morning'sevent, in lieu of a better quality version probably arriving later today. Soread on, damn you!

The new game is set 17 years after Soulcalibur IV,and hasa new protagonist, Patroklos. He's a youngish chap, and the son of Sophitia. Namco Bandai have promised upgrades and tweaks to the combat system, a better character editor, and a bunch of new features "to make battles more exciting". Here's hoping those new features are something better than the inconsequential Critical Finishers from Soulcalibur IV, and that making battles more exciting goes a bit deeper than just making the female characters' clothes more likely to fall off.

Actually, what am I saying? This is Soulcalibur. Female characters' clothes falling off is probably going to be a big-ass deal whatever else happens. But let's have something more interesting than destructible clothing and even bigger boobs this timetoo, eh Namco? How anatomically implausible are you planning on making Ivy this time around, anyway?

Other details? Oh yeah, our compatriots atCVGhave found out that there are going to be more franchise crossover characters. Because everyone loved the Star Wars stuff in SCIV, right?

So, are you a SC fan in a tizzy of pant-wetting excitement over this? Or have you not cared since they stopped putting Link in it? And which non-Namco media franchise are you hoping willbe shoehornedin? Or not, as the case may well be. As ever, place your views in the comment receptacle below, and someone will be along to attend to them shortly.

Above: Is it just me, or does that intro voice-over announcer sound a bit like Dick Van Dyke?
