Soderbergh unleashes Contagion

The constantly busy Steven Soderbergh is to reunite with The Informant! scriptwriter Scott Z. Burns for action thriller Contagion .

The film is about the outbreak of a deadly virus and will have a multi-stranded narrative, not too dissimilar to Soderbergh's award-winning Traffic .

Blog site The Playlist , reported that the project has already attracted the likes of heavyweight stars such as Matt Damon, who worked with Soderbergh and Burns on The Informant , as well as Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Marion Cotillard.

Reports suggest that the initial script was so good, that Soderbergh has decided to push aside all future plans in favour of fast tracking Contagion , which was inspired by a sneeze on the set of The Informant! .

This will mean that Soderbergh's planned biopic of American entertainer and pianist Liberace , which was to star Michael Douglas as well as Matt Damon, will be postponed until 2011.

Let's not forget that the productive director is currently working on spy thriller Knockout. The man makes us feel very lazy indeed...
