Smith and Jones go back to Black

If you knocked Will Smith over the noggin with a frying pan this week, no doubt little animated threes would start spinning around his head.

See, he’s reportedly signed on to two threequels for his best-known franchises – both Men In Black 3 and Bad Boys 3 .

The former was announced by Showbiz411 , who are confirming Sony president Rory Bruer’s earlier comments at ShoWest by announcing that Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and director Barry Sonnenfeld have all signed on for Men In Black 3D .

Yep, 3D. Oh, don’t act surprised. With the multi-dimensional platform proving harder to kill than Jason Voorhees ( oh wait, really? ), Sonnenfeld plans to bring Agents J and K kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

Let’s just hope he does it properly and shoots with 3D cameras – Clash Of The Titans proved to use it’s the only way to go.

Meanwhile, Martin Lawrence has been yacking about Bad Boys 3 . And according to him, both his BB co-star Will Smith and director Michael Bay are good to go.

Talking to MTV , he said:

“I got Big Willie to come down and see me about the movie. I felt special.

“Any time you can get Big Willie to come out and talk about doing a third instalment of a hot movie like Bad Boys , you have to take notice. I met with Michael Bay, and he said he’s onboard too - so it’s real.”

Peter Craig wrote the Bad Boys 3 script last year – but the project could test the priorities of its participators. With Bay busy on that other threequel Transformers 3 , could Smith squeeze MiB3D in before that? Or will he be forced to choose between them?

Which threequel would you rather see?
