Will Stronghold (Michael Angarano) dreads his first day at high school as much as the next teen, but he has the added pressure of being the offspring of superheroes Jetstream and The Commander (Kelly Preston and Kurt Russell). Despite his lineage, Will has yet to discover his abilities and is sent off to superhero school where those with powers triumph and those without become mere sidekicks.
Sky High is essentially an amusing high school comedy. The arch-baddie-planning-to-kill-off-all-the-superheroes ‘plot’ hardly matters, as the pleasure is to be found in the details – the dome-headed science teacher with a predilection for evil twins, Wonder Woman Lynda Carter as the principal and villains being foxed by fiendish baby car seats. It’s no Incredibles, but Mike Mitchell’s film is amiable enough for nippers and parents alike.
