Singer takes sides for Batman Vs Superman

Superman Returns lands in the UK this week and as we previously revealed, helmer Bryan Singer has his stars all sewn up for two sequels.

While mulling over which direction the man of steel’s second adventure will take, the former X-Men lenser admits he has considered taking up the mantle dropped by Wolfgang Petersen in 2002: Batman Vs. Superman.

“I've thought about it for a long time — even a longer time ago, actually,” the director told MTV . “But I don't know who would be the villain. I guess Batman would be the villain, but then he can't be too bad, because he is Batman.”

In the comic books, a newlywed Bruce Wayne was driven off the rails after The Joker killed his bride. The psychotic gurner does a runner to Metropolis and lures a bitter and twisted Batman into battle against Superman, with the help of Lex Luthor.

Although the idea seems to flick Singer’s switches, he says he would want to give Supes a good run before he would think of slinging him into battle with the caped crusader.

“Yeah, maybe not quite yet. I think Superman needs to have his own movies for a little while before that happens.”
