Shiny Pokemon Guide

Step 4: Reset the Poke Radar until you see a Shiny patch

Like we said earlier, the theory behind chaining for Shinies is that the larger your chain is, the higher the chance of encountering a Shiny. However, building very large chains is difficult and risky. At some point, you're going to want to stop chaining and just keep resetting the Poke Radar over and over until you see a Shiny patch.

Where you stop chaining is purely a matter of personal choice, but we recommend stopping your chain at around 40. It really all depends on how much you're willing to risk breaking your chain (sometimes chains can break for seemingly no reason at all, which can be super frustrating when you've built a long chain).

If your chain is too small, it might take a very long time before you find a Shiny. But if you try to build too long of a chain, you have a higher risk of it breaking and losing all your hard work.

Above: All those repels can get expensive - have a Meowth or Persian in your party (preferably at level 100 and holding an Amulet Coin) and use Pay Day on your chain Pokemon to help recoup the cost

Once you're satisfied with your chain, keep resetting the Poke Radar until you see a Shiny patch, and proceed to it carefully (even if it's on an edge). Using this method, you can continue resetting the Poke Radar and catch Shiny after Shiny on the same chain, as long as you're careful not to break it.

That's it for the basics! To discuss Shiny catching and exchange tips and tricks with other Pokemon enthusiasts, head to our friendly Pokemon forum. Happy Shiny hunting!

Well I Found A Shiny Zubat (Rt. 204, Lvl. 4) And A Shiny Machoke (Acuity Lakefront, Lvl. 34?? I Think?) Anyways.... This Was All Completely Random!! I Just Started A New Game, And I Found My Shiny Zubat, Before I Got My Frist Gym Badge :D ... So I Don't Think The National Dex Is All That Important To Find Shinys.

I've been playing pokemon since the very begining and I still have yet to see a single shiny pokemon, aside from the red gyarados. Hopefully this helps me catch one.

I was playing my FireRed game before and I found a shiny Weedle, but I didn't know what shiny Pokemon were. I seriously didn't feel like battling, so I ran away. I wasn't seeing any Weedle's that looked the same, so I thought it was special. I went looking for it for like a whole day and I had no idea there was such a low chance I would find it. I feel retarded right now.

or u could just do what i did and buy a action replay and get 100% shiny and then there is no mucking around including starters, legends, trade and i can get darkrai and others just by going into the pokemart
