Terry Brooks’14-book-spanning sword and sorcery saga has finally been acquired for filming rights by Warner Bros. Brooks’ fictional series , set on a future Earth populated by fantasy creatures, is the second biggest-selling fantasy franchise by a living author after Rowling’s Harry Potter, according to Variety.
The Shannara universe has never previously been optioned for film treatment. However, the enthusiasm of Dan Farrar who brought the project to the studio seems to have appealed to the author. Farrar enthuses: "The books are packed with adventures and epic battles that will play great on the big screen, but what I love most about the saga is that it’s set in our world and what could be our future."
