Sega to announce two "big games" for 2011 and 2012

Sega didn't announce any new games at E3 this year, and instead opted to show off its current lineup, including Sonic Colors, Shogun 2, and Vanquish. But there's more brewing - Mike Hayes, Sega's Western President, told CVG that the publisher will be announcing two "big games" which will cover the same "360/PS3 core game slot" as Vanquish. The mystery games will be released in 2011 and 2012.

Above: Platinum Games' Vanquish, a "ballet with bullets"

Vanquish is a third-person shooter being developed by Platinum Games for the 360 and PS3, and is out October 19th in North America, and October 22 in Europe. The game has thus far received high praise for its freeform, chaotic combat and impressive visuals.

What hardcore lineup do you think Sega could be sitting on? Our best guesses are Bayonetta 2 and Valkyria something-or-other. Or possibly a new Condemned?

I hope it's a new Condemned - but they'd have to think hard about something radical to do with the series, because there's not a lot of room for change.

Didn't they recently announce a new Virtual On..? It was that "10 day countdown" thing they did not long ago.. Or was that shown at E3 already? http://vo-force360.sega.jp/index.shtml <- Cyber Troopers Virtual On Force.

(I meant to write "Super Monkey Ball Guns-and-Ammo" but I've had Banjo-Kazooie on my brain since my XBLA Banjo marathon last night. My deepest apologies Mr. Wilde.)

As long as one if a new IP that actually looks good (that isn't a comment on any other SEGA new IP's that have come out/are coming out btw) I'll be interested. If it's 2 sequels, probably less so.

*Sonic Joke* Condemned 3 would be pretty nice. A new IP would also be awesome; Vanquish is looking alright so far.

I think its too soon for Another Bayonetta. Hopefully its a throwback, maybe Shining Force? Sure hope its a new Valkyria Chronicles though.

vanquish looks sick and it would be even more sick if it had online multiplayer, but i'm guessing they are saving that for the sequel.
  • Felixthecat - July 13, 2010 6:30 p.m.

Vanquish looks fantastic, and I hope that the game they announce IS Bayonetta 2. The original is brilliant.

    Maybe a Sonic MMO game?
