Scorsese and DiCaprio off to Shutter Island

Leo DiCaprio and Marty Scorsese just can’t stop collaborating. And given the Oscar-scooping success of The Departed, who can blame them?

So it’s no surprise that they’ve announced they’ll work together on Shutter Island, which Laeta Kalogridis has been adapting from Mystic River scribe Dennis Lehane’s novel.

It’s a 1954-set drama that finds Marshal Teddy Daniels (DiCaprio), a lawman investigating the disappearance of a murderess who escapes from a hospital for the criminally insane. She’s believed to be hiding out on the remote, titular island.

Paramount Pictures and Columbia are collaborating on the project and the studios want to get it moving quickly, with a shooting date planned for March in one of several competing sites, including Massachusetts, Connecticut and Nova Scotia.

The move means that the pair’s schedule will be shifted – the likes of The Wolf Of Wall Street will have to wait until there’s more free time.
