Sci-Fi Bargains Of The Week

It’s Friday, it’s the SFX website and that means it’s sci-fi bargains time. We’ve had a good rummage round the internet; let’s see if there’s anything we can tempt you with in our random selection this week…

First off Play’s Blu-Ray 2 for £15 is still running and includes a fair number of sci-fi films, so head over there to see what bargains you can find.

First off we have vamp, wolf and tea-making ghost angst with the excellent Being Human series 1, 2 and 3 box set , all for just £19.99 . Although Amazon has this for a few pounds cheaper here .

Next up are the wacky-goings-on in A Town Called Eureka with Season 1 and Season 2 both available for only £8.99 each.

Finally from the HMV sale for this week we have the coma/time travel/mad ’70s show with series one of Life on Mars . You can see the beginnings of the legend that is Gene Hunt for just £10.99 .

Moving away from HMV, but staying with TV box sets we have more Warehouse 13 . Last week we brought you season 1 of this brilliant show and this week you can have season 2 for £10.97 from Amazon.

Sci-fi film bargains this week include the very shiny Tron: Legacy for £7.49 on DVD from Amazon, also available on Blu-ray for £8.95 (which comes with a DVD version as well).

Classic ’80s horror in the form of David Cronenberg’s body horror remake of The Fly on Blu-ray for £4.99 from Play.

Logan and all his mutant pals have fun in the past with X Men Origins: Wolverine , yours on DVD for just £2.99 , again from Play.

If anyone fancies seeing Billy Zane in a purple leotard, how about The Phantom on DVD from Play for just £2.99 ? Or how about getting an eyeful of David Bowie’s scarily huge cod piece; Labyrinth can be yours for £4.29 . Also available from Amazon on Blu-ray for £6.49 if you feel you need the cod piece in HD.

A quick stroll round our local Asda revealed a buff Jake Gyllenhaal in Prince of Persia , the ever so fluffy Despicable Me , and Seth Grogan in The Green Hornet, all on DVD for £5 . In another shade of green, the CGI-heavy Green Lantern is available for £10 . The massive blue head of Megamind was also spotted for £7 .

On the Blu-ray front, Asda has the Director’s Cut of Watchmen and the JJ Abrams Star Trek remake for £10 each; a two-disc Blade Runner set for £12 ; and if you feel like shutting up crime they have Super for just £5 . If seeing the roll out of all the decorations and Christmas adverts is making you particularly un-festive why not try picking up Gremlins ; the Blu-ray can be yours for just £7 .

From the forum this week, Badhat brings news that the new Blu-ray X-Men boxed set can be found for £25 in store at HMV. Radical Edward found a director’s cut of Russian supernatural thrillers Nightwatch and Daywatch in a DVD set for £5 and Danny Boyle’s Sunshine for £2.99 . Radical also spotted a couple of Anime bargains: Origins; Spirit of the Past and The Sky Crawlers , both for just £2.99 .

Random suggestion of the week this week comes in the form of these excellent sci-fi themed cufflinks. Available in various designs including K9 , Davros , Darth Vader or TIE fighters as well as many more, these nifty (or possibly naff) little bits of tat can be yours for between £9.99 and £10.99 a set.
