Sci-Fi Bargains Of The Week

Great animated movies at rock bottom prices and a TARDIS mug are among the treasures dug up by Steven Ellis this week

First off we have the excellent CGI animated Astro Boy available for £2.99 on DVD. HMV also has the film for £7.49 on Blu-ray but Amazon has a DVD/Blu-ray double play version even cheaper at £5.99 .

If you’re getting tired of the increasingly bizarre casting rumours surrounding the live action remake of Akira , why not pick up the original anime version ? It’s available for £6.99 on DVD or the Blu-ray can be yours for £9.99 .

Fancy a bit of Studio Ghibli animation, why not try the charming Kiki’s Delivery Service , yours for £5.99 on DVD.

Finally we have the heart-breaking classic big, friendly robot film The Iron Giant on DVD for only £2.99 .

More animated fun with perhaps the best superhero movie ever made , The Incredibles on DVD for just £5 . And also on Blu-ray from Play for £9.99

And here’s a bargain if ever there were: season one of Warehouse 13 DVD boxed set also from Amazon for a mere £8.87 !

If you’re in the mood for some geeky fun then why not join Sheldon, Leonard and the gang for hours and hours of laughs with Season one to four of the Big Bang Theory available from Amazon on DVD for £32.99 .

Do you fancy taking a trip back to a simpler time, when we at SFX thought Tank Girl was good enough to warrant a place on our first ever cover? You can see just how wrong we were for just £2.99 .

A quick walk round Asda this week spotted both the Fantastic Four films for £9 on DVD, a Batman Motion Picture Anthology DVD (that’s all the films from Tim Burton’s Batman through to the less-well-remembered Batman And Robin ) for £9 . They also had The Adjustment Bureau for £7 , the hilarious Your Highness for £7 or Nicholas Cage donning another wig in The Sorcerer’s Apprentice for £5 .

On the Blu-ray front Asda has Limitless for £10 , the action-packed Battle: Los Angeles again for £10 and the excellent gamer nerd film Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World for £9

And if you still haven’t picked up the excellent Walking Dead season one, Tesco has it on DVD for £14 , or £18 if you prefer the Blu-ray. (That can be the zombie suggestion of the week – sod the rage infected, blah blah…)

Also spotted in store were a boxed set of the first three Twilight films for £18 , Keanu Reaves does Kung Fu in The Matrix Trilogy on Blu-ray for £15 and animated fun with Monsters Versus Aliens on DVD for £4 .

Not much from the forum this week although Buffster did inform us that choicesuk.com is selling off ex-rental DVDs in a three-for- £3.50 deal if you don’t mind your films having a little wear and tear. And Jedit told us to keep an eye out for Black Friday online deals starting next Friday. Must do better forumers!

If you find anything we’ve highlighted this week cheaper anywhere please mention it in the comments section below. We want as many bargain choices for our readers as we can get.
