Atari has released a selection of new shots of Saint Seiya: The Hades, a beat-'em-up based on the Saint Seiya anime series.
The Hades is the latest part of the Saint Seiya story, which follows the exploits of five mythical warriors. Their power comes from the belief that each atom in the human body resembles a solar system, which means that each person becomes a small 'universe' and, in turn, becomes a source of power for 'saints' who channel it through their armour.
The game takes places as the Specters, thanks to the awakening of Hades, begin to claim back their powers after being restrained for 243 years by Athena's might. It is your destiny to do battle with the supreme commander of Hell and his armies to overcome the impending devastation.
This latest game is being developed by Dimps, the people responsible for the first three DragonBallZ: Budokai games that came out for PS2 and, looking at the shots, there's obvious similarities in the way that the style of the anime series is captured in the game. Also, to add even more authenticity, actual footage from the series will be used for cutscenes.
Dimps also demonstrated with the Budokai series that it is more than capable of recreating over-the-top action while making a dynamic and playable fighting game, so we can expect a similar quality from Saint Seiya: The Hades when it's released for PS2 this autumn.
