Ryan Reynolds talks Deadpool

Ryan Reynolds is a lucky man. Not only is he set to star as interstellar cop Green Lantern next summer, but he’ll be causing carnage as Marvel Comic’s Deadpool sometime in 2011 too.

Reynolds has been chatting with MTV about the fourth-wall breaking, anti-hero extraordinaire, who was last seen in several pieces at the end of X-Men Origins: Wolverine .

Speaking from Sundance, where Reynolds' horror flick Buried received rave reviews, the Smokin’ Aces star reassured Deadpool fans that the film was in safe, fanboy friendly hands.

Paul Wenick and Rhett Reese, the writers behind last years’ finest zom-com Zombieland , are currently scribbling away on the Deadpool script.

"Tonally, they got it. They just [understood 'Deadpool'] right off the bat. They're fans of the character and they were so excited. We couldn't have done any better [than Reese and Wernick]."

And Reynolds, the only actor currently cast in the Merc with a Mouth's solo outing, is pleased with the film's progress, as well as his own undisclosed input.

"I talk to them [Reese and Wernick] every single day. We're all very sick of each other already. It's actually a really wonderful creative trifecta — we're having a very good time."

Come March, Reese and Wernick could be getting a break from Reynolds' phone calls, since he starts shooting Green Lantern in New Orleans.

Deadpool? Or Michael Barrymore's pool?
