Well XCOM is a great pick and a fantastic game, but it is in no way an RPG.

It's a turn based, tactical RPG, akin to the Valkyria Chronicles series in how its played

And Valkyria Chronicles isn't an RPG either, so what's your point? They are strategy games, not RPGs... There's a difference, a rather big one.

Played Diablo 3, stopped after 2 weeks. Played Xcom, stopped after 1 week, played Guild Wars 2, stopped after 1 month. hmm..Skyrim should have been here. Hello!?

Oops, skyrim was released late 2011. lol

Not just RPG of the year but overall game of the year for my money. I was a huge fan of the original, and absolutely love the way Firaxis have cut away the dead wood and made it more streamlined, without taking away the core challenge :)

There is nothing better than hitting a 23% shot or decomating a Berserker with a paniced Heavy in Xcom. Probably the most rewarding game experience available this year. 100% agree with the pick.
