Richard Armitage talks The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies

Richard Armitage has been discussing what we can expect from the newly retitled The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies , and has hinted at some possible twists and turns in the series' concluding instalment.

"There's a couple of big surprises," teases Armitage, before going on to enthuse, "I think it will probably be quite a cinematic event."

Jackson's diversions from the source material have tended towards fleshing things out, rather than making key narrative changes, so we'll be intrigued to see what these "surprises" turn out to be...

"It’s going to be quite a nostalgic event I think," continues Armitage. "It’s going to be 15 years of seeing Middle Earth on the big screen, the culmination of Peter Jackson’s life’s work."

Directed by Jackson and co-starring Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen and Evangeline Lilly, The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies will open in the UK on 12 December 2014.
