The short, action-packed levels of this third-person shooter are full of potential combo-linking targets. Made by Bizarre Creations, who not only made Geometry Wars but also the deep kudos system of Metropolis Street Racer/Project Gotham Racing, this has decades of score attack experience at its heart. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Wii, DS)
With cosy Nintendo/Sega fun and records to be won, it's hard to imagine this being anything but a hi-score festival. With both consoles able to connect to the Internet, expect global rankings for the events. Imagine the thrill of getting a genuine world record... Retrobot cannot process...

FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage (Xbox 360)
Forget the racing - it's the minigames we want to know about. Sending your driver flying through the windshield as far as you can was always the biggest pull of the original. Add a crap-load of variants and you've got yourself a surprise entry in the score-attack stakes. Read the previewhere.

Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3, Xbox 360)
Has Retrobot shortcircuited? Not really.GTA keeps records of everything you do, including your minigame scores. The keepy-uppy challenge in Vice City was highly addictive, as were the insane stunt bonuses in GTA III. Expect loads of similar minigames to appear in GTAIV.
