Resident Evil Revival Collection HD footage looks just like Resi 4 and Code Veronica in HD. What else did you want?

So yes, Capcom is re-releasing Resident Evils 4 and Code Veronica in HD for the Xbox 360 and PS3. And while this news has been pant-perturbingly exciting from the off, the initial set of screens didn't do a great deal to show us just how good the ports are going to look.

Now though, we have evidence of the games in the form of rapidly-updating images, run together so fast that they actually appear to be moving. How do they look? Remarkably good actually. Resident Evil 4 in fact, looks almost current-gen in places. So click and ogle.

We're looking at an autumn release for these two beauties. And while Japan is getting them both in a boxed disc edition, in the west you'll have a choice of two separate digital download procedures, via XBLA and PSN. Excited for an HD Resi that comes free of irritating co-op partners, tower-block-sized biceps, and actually manages to be scary? Or are you sick to death of HD remakes and underwhelming spin-offs, and now just demand a new game?

@TartanSpartan01 I think when you start out your comment admitting that you lack the brains to spell, and then proceed to make up a word which is also mixed into the most incoherent sentence i've ever read, your opinion is void. guess i'll "bolt" now. douchebag

Can't wait for this, I played both games on release on their respective systems but, alas, I have my Gamecube nor my Dreamcast any longer. This will definitely be worth the money.

part of the problem here is that RE4 has always looked beautiful. Gamecube, WiiMake (well....update at least), you name it.....it's a pretty game. it'll probably be tough to identify just how massively sharper these visuals are until I boot it up at home. Now as for Code Veronica, i played it again very recently via emulation on my pc and that game is a gem. Code Veronica is the TRUE Resident Evil 4, so it's quite fitting they're being released together.

I'd happily play through Resi 4 again, but now I get to do in HD with trophy support :)

Was actually looking for more of a difference really. It's as if they just used a filter.

Any chance of these coming out on PC, via steam maybe?

i have two copies of re4 (wii and gc) and got code v on gc (and my dreamcasdt which is... somewhere) so theres no way im buyin them again. but this is great for people without a copy or have never played and it looks great too! :D

@TartanSpartan01 In fairness it's only a re-release (with higher res enabled) for newer consoles rather than a remake plus the heavy hitters in the RE franchise that have been announced are the 3ds title (not the mercenaries the other one) and Racoon City. So both a spin off and a more traditional title are in development and probably 6 as well. I doubt this was an instead of choice just a way to cash in on an anniversary. Generally though they don't look too much different but i never played Code Veronica so i might choose that.

@Baron I think RE2 beats 4 in terms of ports.
  • TartanSpartan01 - July 1, 2011 4:02 p.m.

oh great another remake(s)(i know thats incorrect but il correct myself this way so any wannabe english teachers who like to correct ppls spelling can bolt).I cant believe (new word alert) uninnovative the big companies are getting, its pathetic i cant understand y you guys r excited, ive played through at least 2.9 billion times. What more do we want?eh, how about RE6?or is that just a crazy idea?or even a completely different game but based around the same time of RE4 or code veronica?a spin-off wouldnt even have been as bad,an you know what will happen in like 3 years time when the ps4 and xbox720 or whatever stinkin names they'll be come out, you'll have da da da daaaaaaaa RE4 3D!!! yippeeeeeee

@CoryM1134 yeah its just you Ill probably pick up RE4 maybe. Im not an RE fan but 4 definetly was a good game.
  • Oblivion2500 - July 1, 2011 3:20 p.m.

They better use the Wii version of RE4 as the import so we get the best graphics in HD, Move Support, and all the extras content. I thought that this was PS3 exclusive, (does not matter even tho I like PS3 better), that just give me more luck on the fact that Capcom will use the wii graphics and extra content on the collection.

    Kinda looks... the same?

I'd like someone to compile a list of all the versions of Resident Evil 4 that have been re-released since the original. Besides Street Fighter 2 it has to be Capcoms most re-released game.
  • CoryM1134 - July 1, 2011 2:48 p.m.

Maybe it's just me, buI think I prefer the grainy, smooth blurred motion of PS2 graphics to a lot of these HD remakes.
  • Mooshon - July 1, 2011 2:46 p.m.

Brilliant! Another excuse to play these through again. Code Veronica was great too if I remember.
  • Ultimadrago - July 1, 2011 2:45 p.m.

I'm just ready for a new Leon Kennedy playable title.
  • TheHungryLemur - July 1, 2011 2:31 p.m.

I was thinking about getting RE4 as a reason to dust off my Gamecube but it looks like I can wait a bit more :)
  • Gex4212 - July 1, 2011 2:22 p.m.

I wonder if RE4 Will be MOVE and Sharpshooter compatible. Hope it is
  • WarSaint0299 - July 1, 2011 2:21 p.m.
