Rayman Legends pushed to Q1 2013

Rayman Legends, the Wii U exclusive follow-up to animated platformer Rayman Origins, has been pushed out of the console's release month. Videogamer published a statement from Ubisoft today saying the game, originally set to launch November 30, has been delayed until the first quarter of 2013.

"We're happy that fans are excited about the game, and we are taking the time to make sure we deliver a game that lives up to and hopefully exceeds their expectations," Ubisoft said. "We'll have more details to share soon."

The publisher said its other releases planned for the Wii U's launch window, including Assassin's Creed III, ZombiU and Just Dance 4, are still on track.

Well that's a shame. If I hadn't known any better I coulda swore it looked like it was pretty much finished based on everything that's been shown so far. Hopefully they're adding/improving something substantial, although they're probably just tinkering with all their NFC stuff, or it's a spot of trouble with the GamePad or something. Wouldn't mind a fourth character though (Murphy aside) so that you don't have to play as those generic Teensies again.

Translated: "Nintendo realised that Super Mario Bros and Rayman were being released at the same time, were the same type of game, but Rayman was going to be by far the better of the two. To save Nintendo's favourite little turnip being embarrassed in quality (if not sales), we have delayed the release slightly thanks to guarantees that a sequel of Rayman would be supported."
