Rambo: The Video Game to debut at Gamescom 2012

Could 2012 be the year Rambo gets a decent video game adaptation?

The Rambo series should translate perfectly into video games, but previous adaptations on the NES, Sega Master System and the Sega Genesis didn't do the series justice. 2012 could be the year Rambo finally gets a decent video game adaptation.

Last year the UK publisher Reef Entertainment secured the video game rights from StudioCanal for the Rambo franchise. Despite Reef Entertainment remaining quiet about Rambo: The Video Game, there will be a viewing of the game at the upcoming Gamescom event.

Commercial director Craig Lewis has said of the lack of news: "we have been quiet since we acquired the Rambo license last August. During this time we have been dedicated to creating a videogame for consoles and PC that will allow Rambo fans and gamers across the globe to really get under the skin of Rambo and wield his iconic weapon-set in battle."

There is little else in the way of info apart from a Rambo: The Video Game website that simply informs us the game is coming soon.

Rambo: The Video Game is expected to be available on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 by the end of the year.

Whenever you see the subtitle "The Video Game," it's bound to be awful.

It should just be a Contra clone.

I love First Blood and Rambo. Parts 2 and 3 are ok. Im very interested in how this turns out. Bonus points if the band First Blood has anything to do with the soundtrack.

Isn't there a Time Crisis type Rambo game already? I played it, just shooting, explosions and no dodging.

Yes there is, based on Rambo 3 in Afghanistan.

This is going to be an epic fail I can already tell.

This could go either way. The developer is unknown to me, but often it seems movie games based on movies that are twenty years old or more often turn out pretty good. I'm a big fan of the Warriors, Ghostbusters the game, heard the Scarface game wasn't too bad for what it was, etc. because there's no tie-in release time frame they have to worry about so they can spend as much time on it as they want. If they could get Stallone in the recording booth I'd play this even if it looked like asshole.
