, Brian De Palma's upcoming remake of French thriller
, has released a first official image online, and bizarrely, the marketing team seems to think that a still of the two female leads kissing is going to drum up publicity…
Yep, that's Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace getting up close and personal with each other, as what the official synopsis describes as, "two women in the dog-eat-dog world of international business". So it's not just the big money we've been missing out on!
McAdams plays Christine, who apparently, "possesses the natural elegance and casual ease associated with one who has a healthy relationship with money and power." Rapace is her protégé, Isabelle, who finds herself drawn, "ever deeper into a game of seduction and manipulation, dominance and humiliation."
It all sounds a little bit overwrought to us, although Rapace and McAdams have certainly got the talent to steer this away from the wreckage of a thousand "erotic thrillers" that have gone before. The synopsis compares the film to
, so lets hope De Palma hits the high notes of that film, rather than the hilarity of its farcical sequel.
The actresses both appeared in
Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows
, although they didn't share any scenes.
has yet to receive an official release date, but is expected to arrive in the first half of 2013. If the promotional material continues in this vein, we're sure
will be on everybody's radar by then…
