The second-to-last mission in the original StarCraft's Terran campaign gives you a strange directive: while you're supposed to wipe out every trace of the hyper-advanced Protoss aliens, you're specifically ordered not to bother the swarming, bestial Zerg situated right near your base. What happens once you carry out those orders affected us in a way we never knew a real-time strategy game could. ...
The DS version of the game also made it into the top 10, taking out the seventh spot.

Super Mario Galaxy for the Nintendo Wii -- last week's number one -- fell down to number two during the week of December 10-December 16. Drawn to Life for the Nintendo DS has reappeared in the overall charts at number three after a brief hiatus. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the Xbox 360 climbed up from the previous week to number five, while Activision's other chart topper -- Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock -- is nowhere to be seen. Halo 3 for the 360 has reappeared at number nine, while Nintendo's Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree bundle ended the week at number 10.
Oct 30, 2007

Not so much a cohesive game as a series of "episodes" with co-op play in mind, The Simpsons Game is nonetheless consistently funny, occasionally inspired, not too taxing and diverse. A bit like your average episode of the TV show then, which is why this is head and shoulders above the spin-off games that have clouded Springfield's finest down the years.

It starts with a typically bizarre Homer dream involving chocolate rabbits, and from there goes all post-modern when Bart ...
An EA producer has said that Rockstar "spazzed out like little babies" in reaction to the GTA parody in The Simpsons Game.

The comedy spoof level, titled Grand Theft Scratchy, didn't go down too well with GTA publisher Rockstar, who forced EA to rename the level; now called the not-so-clever 'Mob Rules' stage.

Speaking on GameTrailer's Game Head program, Simpsons executive producer Matt Selman explained where the controversy began:

Apparently Rockstar were among a number of game companies that werent happy with the way The Simpsons Game, out for 360, Wii, PS2, DS 2 November, was parodying their creations and wanted somethings removed from the final code.

In an excusive interview with CVG the lead designer, Greg Rizzer, stated “we've had to pull stuff from the game”. But it seems, apart from renaming the trailer on the official site from Grand Theft Scratchy to the less catchy Mob Rules, not ...
We've played a fair few Simpsons games in our time. It goes with the job - there have been so many they're hard to avoid, like the Army Men games, or Dynasty Warriors (just considerably better). But none have really gone down as classics in the Videogaming Bible of all Things Great (if such a thing existed obviously).

It looks like this might be about to change, however, with a game that comes from both the company who (arguably) knows most about videogames, EA, and the people who (unarguably) ...
EA's forthcoming The Simpsons game parodies 30 years of videogaming and gaming IPs, but there are games companies that have refused to see the funny side of things.

"I was always under the impression that when you do parody, it's a sign of respect... If we make fun of Grand Theft Auto, we're not going to hurt the sales of Grand Theft Auto... But yeah, we've definitely had some reactions - we've had to pull stuff from the game", The Simpsons lead designer Greg Rizzer revealed ...
