The Bigs

The game that will revolutionize the way baseball fans feel slightly bored

What makes the PSP version different is the absence of two gameplay modes: online multiplayer (though Ad Hoc is an option) and the pinball home run derby. The former is a bit of a letdown, but we were never too fond of the latter, so no great loss there. Plus, there are a few issues with the announcer commentary dropping out at random that are unique to this version, but it never gets bad enough to be much of an issue.

Despite the failings of the arcade style boosts, what’s left over isn’t a bad baseball game. It’s pretty accessible, with simplistic interfaces and beautiful eye candy all around. But considering that those arcadey enhancements are what’s supposed to make this game unique, we can’t help but feel casual fans would be better off playing MLB 2K7 on easy difficulty. But if you’re willing to overlook the faults, this is the version we’d recommend.

You'll love
  • Incredibly realistic player faces
  • Building up your rookie
  • The hilarity of a bunt button
You'll hate
  • Arcade boosts don't add much
  • Repetitive on-field animations
  • Each game feels the same
