What do Solid Snake, Lara Croft and Samus Aran all have in common? They dress for success. Their own costume, be it custom-built spacesuit or bottomless backpack, is directly related to their adventuresome profession. No matter the situation, these heroes are loaded with gadgets, training and expertise that'll see them through to the end.

But not all game characters are created equal. A great many appear to have no practical application other than "the boss says this guy stays in the game." ...
Would we be crazy to say that the oceanic depth of Tekken: Dark Resurrection makes it the single best portable fighting game ever? Well, we're putting it out there just like that. Search as long as you want, complain all you like, but with more than 30 playable characters, a full roster of fighting styles and the best PSP graphics to date, there's barely even room for comparison.

Dark Resurrection is, in actuality, nothing more than a port of an arcade Tekken 5 tweak. Two new fighters join the ...
The game's only been out for a few days, but Tekken: Dark Resurrection is already the buzz of the PSP world. We can't get enough of it, as evidenced by our own review, but before King, Paul and the rest of the crew fade away from constant coverage, we secured three fresh videos to whet your ferocious appetites. Keep in mind that no movie or screenshot can capture how beautiful this game looks on the PSP screen... it's absolutely ...
We've been digging our virtual fists into people's jaw lines for years now, but few fighting games capture the teeth-rattling brutality quite like the Tekken series. In just a few weeks an arcade-only version is heading to the PSP with two new characters ready to throw down, and we've taken a flurry of gut-punches just to get to know them better.

The slinky blond you see up there, soaring through the air ready to kick that guy in half, is Lili. She doesn't really have a definable combat style, ...
Once announced for the Sony PlayStation Portable, fanboy hearts went all aflutter at the possibility of their longtime favorite fighting franchise making its way to the games-starved handheld. Last week, Joystiq.com was able to sit down and get some quality time with Tekken: Dark Resurrection and see if this would indeed be the sure-fire hit gamers and Namco would obviously think it'd be once it hits store shelves this summer.
• Tekken Dark Resurrection trailer (MOV, 22.1MB)

Wednesday 31 May 2006
Namco has released a new trailer of Tekken: Dark Resurrection, which sees PSP as the latest venue for the Iron Fist tournament.

Out this September, the handheld beat-'em-up will offer the same sophisticated scrapping as the console versions, but for one-on-one action the ad-hoc wireless connectivity will have to be used.

The new trailer features the two new fighters to the series, Lili and Dragunov. Which is all well ...
When you're done pounding the 35 combatants into the ground, you'll be able to indulge in the simple bowling minigame solo or with friends, using two meters to gauge how hard you're throwing and how much spin is on ...
Friday 12 May 2006
The original Tekken 5 arcade game had such high specs that it was quite a challenge getting it on to PSP but it's not just a mere port: for PSP we completely remade all the materials in the game.

There will be 34 playable characters, each of which will have their own story with CG ending movies, including the two new characters Lili and Dragunov. We'll have all the modes of previous PS2 instalments of Tekken as well as some new ones.

One of these is a ghost feature that ...
