Making a better-late-than-never appearance on Sony's handheld this November, Sonic's 2.5D adventure seems to be running through all the right loops in Sega's new trailer - click the movies tab above to watch it.

Though it looks like a traditional Sonic outing at first, Rivals is actually a no-holds-barred race to the finish between Sonic and co-stars Knuckles, Shadow, Silver and more. If staying ahead by fair means and super speed fails, the hedgehogs can break out sliding tackles and homing attacks, leaving their race-mates scrabbling for rings in the dust.

Rivals has a few months of development left to get up to speed, but expect a hands-on before its release this November.
