Sega Genesis Collection

Friday 11 August 2006 Sega is to release Sega Mega Drive Collection for PSP, which, as the title suggests, is a collection of Mega Drive games in one simple package. There will be over 30 classic games that first appeared on Sega's 16-bit console squeezed on to one UMD and the line-up will include Altered Beast, Sonic the Hedgehog, Shinobi III, Phantasy Star and Golden Axe. Many of the games will make use of PSP's wireless connectivity so gamers can team up or play against their mates. No UK

Today, Sega's primarily known for its Sonic the Hedgehog games, but back in 1989, the company's first hardware powerhouse made Nintendo quake in its market-dominating boots. The Sega Genesis remains one of the most revered consoles of all time, and later this fall you'll get a crack at 28 classic games on the Sega Genesis Collection. The 16-bit compilation will include, obviously, Sonic again, but the inclusion of Shinobi III and Ristar hint that this may actually be a collection worth looking

For those who can't wait for the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console or for Xbox Live Arcade to increase its library, Sega has just announced what's potentially the greatest retro collection yet: Sega Genesis Collection for the PS2 and PSP.
