PSP Review
Oct 24, 2007 Very little has changed from the next-gen iteration of Juiced 2; its the same game, just slightly cut down. But a slightly cut-down next-gen game has turned into one of PSPs best. Featuring the same accessible and well-paced game structure from the PS3/360 version, the only major omissions here are the 3D characters, cockpit helmet cam, damage modeling and environment interaction. You still get the betting, customisation, variety of game modes and even online multi-player. The ...

Oct 23, 2007 We feel your pain. We know that if you're a cricket fan, until now you were stuck for any games to play on the move. First comes Pressure Play 2007 then next month International Cricket Captain hits the shelves. Should you hold out? To counter the obvious problem of a sport that can potentially last days featuring on a handheld, the developers have included a handy Pressure Play mode, which basically acts as a Scenario mode - you're given a challenge like "win the match in the ...

Oct 19, 2007 EA's FIFA 08 on the PS2 was a real triumph thanks to a combination of crisp passing, believable AI and surprisingly sophisticated team shape and player movement. Basically it felt just like you were outside playing real soccer, with jumpers down for goalposts and so on. FIFA 08 on the PS3 on the other hand, felt like a game feeling its way around football's complexities and was a disappointment. Fortunately, the PSP game shares most qualities with the PS2, resulting in game ...

Oct 19, 2007 Sega Rally has a much easier run on PSP with no version of DiRT on Sony's handheld. It's literally a one Subaru race. So what do you get? Well you get the sweet arcade racing of Sega Rally, which means sweeping into corners, lush scenery - from dense forests to glacial mountains - and straightforward racing at blistering speeds. It handles like a dream too. And while it doesn't quite manage to recreate the beautiful mud effects of the next-gen version, it looks lovely. But ...

Oct 18, 2007 The sandbox (genre) is no place for kids. Between GTA, Saint's Row, and True Crime, lil' Ginny Gamer has smartly stayed the hell out, lest she shovel up murder weapon Uzis or carry home a pail full of sticky condoms. Enter concerned citizen Lucasarts, who with their new theme park grab-bag Thrillville: Off the Rails, has picked out all the used syringes and, sack o' toys in hand, reclaimed the sandbox for ...

PSP Review
Oct 10, 2007 Despite their proliferation on consoles on PCs, the FPS genre is still sorely underrepresented on the portable systems. There are good reasons for this (inherit limitations of the portable format), but it hasn't stopped developers from trying to make a good on-the-go shooter. Konami steps up to the challenge again with Coded Arms: Contagion, a sequel to the modestly successful Coded Arms. Unfortunately, all Contagion shows us is that portable fragging has a long way to go before ...

Oct 9, 2007 EA's small-screen roundball series has been jazzing up our PSPs for three years now, tweaking the formula each go-round. Last year, Freestyle controls worked great but tended to relegate non-superstars to the virtual bench. This season, NBA Live 08 invites all comers to the party, from Rajon Rondo to Kobe Bryant and everybody in between. It's a streamlined version of their hoops hit, and it works again just like a charm. Don't get us wrong - Brian Scalabrine won't light up Tim ...

PSP Review
We've railed on the PSP's analog nub plenty, many a time expressing our disappointment with the portable's numerous attempts at pulling off a decent shooter. Well, the PSP and LucasArts have just delivered a resounding "Shut yo' mouth" pimp slap across our flapping gums with their fairly phenomenal shooter, Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade ...

Oct 8, 2007 Nine years ago Final Fantasy Tactics chronicled the life of Ramza Beoulve, one of the sons of the late king Balbanes, and his role in The Lion War. Today it does the same thing by keeping the core of the game the same, while carefully adding features that keep with the original tone. There are a couple of new character classes, several beautiful cutscenes, the game is displayed in eye-catching widescreen (16:9) and just about every line of dialogue has been retranslated to give a ...

PSP Review
Oct 2, 2007 It had to happen. PSP has finally got its Wario Ware. Sadly, this is a charmless version of the Nintendo favorite. Following the quick-fire nature of WW, Hot Pixel is broken up into a succession of quick fire minigames. While certain games are temporarily diverting and show some character - drawing a line for a stock market crash while businessmen cry in the background - most are tedious affairs that show little imagination and repeat too often. The "urban" flavour falls flat and ...
