Based on ongoing discussions with our retail partners and the feedback they have received from their customers, SCEA has seen significant interest in the Ratchet & Clank Size Matters PSP Entertainment Pack in North America, which includes the updated PSP-3000. As a result, we will be streamlining our PSP hardware lineup and will no longer be offering the previously announced 4GB Memory PSP Entertainment Pack.

Kezins.com reports that the PSP-3000 will be launched in North America as part of two packs. One of the packs will be the Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters PSP Entertainment bundles which will be released on October 14th. The other pack will be a 4GB Entertainment Pack which is due out in November. Both packs will be retailed at US $199.99.

GameFly Reveals Winners of the 5th Annual Q Awards (News)

GameFly today (2008-02-25) announced the winners of their Fifth Annual Q Awards. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Activision) was selected by GameFly subscribers as "Game of the Year" and also won individual honors for "Xbox 360 Game of the Year" and "PlayStation 3 Game of the Year."

The Q Awards were created to give GameFly members the ability to voice their opinion and to recognize publishers who create the best games.

In other categories, GameFly members recognized God of War II (SCEA) for "PlayStation 2 Game of the Year," Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters (SCEA) for "PSP Game of the Year," Super Mario Galaxy (Nintendo) for "Wii Game of the Year," and The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (Nintendo) for "Nintendo DS Game of the Year."

The second- and third-place recipients of the GameFly Fifth Annual Q Awards for all categories are also named.

Following a string of rumors, it turns out Sony's PSP platformer Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters is coming to PS2 very shortly. There's no official announcement on the title, but a recent PlayStation Underground e-mail from Sony flags up the port, apparently hitting North American shelves in March. Released as part of the Platinum range, God of War 2 is now available for the bargain price of only £14.99. For those yet to pick up this bloody, action sequel, now is the time especially given the barren landscape that is the release schedule. Kratos returns and is quickly returned to his non-godly form and once again finds himself battling monsters from Greek mythology.

Those with a backwards compatible PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 2 should pick up God of War 2 without reservation. As Tom points out in his review: "If Sony were to choose a game to see off the greatest console of the previous generation, God of War 2 would be it."

Also released this week is Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters Platinum for PSP, making the very solid action platformer available for only £14.99. After a very solid run on PS2 the game made its PSP debut last summer and delivered the goods, scoring a very commendable 9/10 in the VideoGamer.com review.

Kotaku's Brian Crecente writes:

"Our first-ever Game of the Year awards was a pretty straight forward deal. I asked all of the writers to submit a list of three games for each category and the three that showed up most in each category made it as a finalist. Once we had the list of finalists I asked each writer to go through and order the finalists and then tallied the vote. The one with the most points was named Game of the Year, the runner-up was named Not Quite Game of the Year. The game with the most votes for Worst Game of the Year received that dubious honor."

Super Mario Galaxy won Kotaku's Overall Game of the Year award. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune came as second, it won the Not Quite Game of the Year award. (Kotaku posted the overall results as a separate post, see the link at the Alternative Sources below for more details.)

Joystiq mentioned a rumor about a PlayStation 2 port of Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters and it looks like it exists. Besides listing the game, Gamestop updated the page with some official looking PS2 box art too. Even the ESRB updated their database with Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters listed as a PlayStation 2 game.

Ratchet and Clank will be reuniting once again on the PSP in Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, and we've got new screens.
