Sony has released a new PS3 firmware update that allows US and Japanese owners to play their downloaded PSone games on the PS3. Previously, downloaded PSone games were only compatible with PSP. From what we can make out on the official Japanese website, PS3-compatible PSone games will go live on April 26. The best thing is that the PSone save files are also transferable so, for example, you could start an ...

PSP News | Final Fantasy Anniversary Edition
You may recall back in January when we told you about Square Enix's plans to re-release the first two installments of its increasingly inaccurately-titled Final Fantasy series for the PSP. These are, of course, the centerpieces of the company's 20th anniversary celebration of the first game's 1987 release. Although you generally can't go wrong with early Final Fantasy, we'll confess that we'd have been perfectly content with some delicious cake or even a birthday card with a five dollar bill ...

The first juicy piece of banter to come from the event's discussion panels was a tease from Suda and Kojima directed at their ...

With all the talk about the lines blurring between movies and videogames, you'd think that Hollywood by now would have developed a pretty good idea of what gaming is all about. But if you watch many movies, you'll know it hasn't. It might be kids wildly pounding off-brand Xbox controllers as random Atari noises play. Maybe there'll be a laughable "virtual reality" sequence thrown in, or maybe the non-gaming director will use games as an awkward metaphor for the awful stuff we teach our kids. ...

EA and Endemol, the company behind Big Brother, are collaborating to produce a "a new digital entertainment concept" called Virtual Me. The idea behind Virtual Me is to bring together TV and videogames, with people able to create avatars at VirtualMe.com (scheduled to launch in the coming months) and then participate in virtual versions of TV shows - e.g. talent shows like Fame Academy and game shows like Deal Or No Deal. "Virtual Me combines cutting edge avatar creation technology from EA ...
