PSP - Need for Speed ProStreet - EA confident of becoming Christmas number one Electronic Arts believes its forthcoming racing title Need for Speed ProStreet will win the race to become this year's Christmas number one video game.

"A Need for Speed game has been Christmas number one for four of the last five years, with FIFA only pipping it to the post last year in a debatable count back," said Steve Farrell, senior product manager at EA.

"We are confident the increased quality of the game this year ¿ as well as our extensive marketing campaign, with support throughout the run-up to Christmas ¿ will help to re-establish a Need For Speed game at number one."

PSP - Need for Speed SHIFT - US Video-Game Sales Expected To Recover After Slump Sales of video-game software have been on the decline for six consecutive months, but analysts expect a return to positive growth when sales data for September are reported Thursday afternoon.

U.S. game sales in the month of September will be released late in the day Thursday by the NPD Group. On average, analysts are expecting software sales to grow about 15% compared with the same period last year, according to a tally of forecasts by MarketWatch.
