Nathan Phail-Liff, 3D artist at Ready at Dawn Studios (Daxter), was at the 2008 Game Developers' conference to discuss his studio's challenges and solutions in bringing a hit franchise to the PSP, in the context of their recent work on God of War: Chains of Olympus.

Describing his studio's philosophy concerning the many problems that occur during development, Phail-Liff said that "the difference between a AAA great game and a good one... is being very self-critical and how you react to those mistakes."

PSP - God of War: Chains of Olympus - God of War PSP: Really, Really Short Here's Game|Life editor Chris Kohler's God of War: Chains of Olympus clear time. (You can view the full screenshot at Game|Life.) You can add on roughly another half an hour to this, as Chris played the first half of the game on a preview disc and then had to start again on the review code.

But even then, Chains of Olympus is still really short at just under five hours. Chris would be a little more forgiving of this if the game was jam-packed full of holy-shit moments like previous God of War games, but it just isn't.

To coincide with the much-anticipated North American launch of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots in late Q2 2008, SCEA will introduce a PS3 bundle, which will include an 80GB PS3, the upcoming blockbuster Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and a DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller for $499.99 (MSRP).

The final piece of big news coming out of DPS is another much-requested release date: SCEA will introduce the DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller for the first time in North America in April 2008 for $54.95 (MSRP). Compatible with more than 100 PS3 games, DUALSHOCK 3 has both rumble and motion-sending SIXAXIS technologies. So now you'll be able to play Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, and, yes, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots with rumble turned ON.

In June, a new PSP Entertainment Pack will be hitting stores, featuring the famous face of the Ghost of Sparta - Kratos. Here's what you get in the bundle, which will be available for $199.99 (MSRP):
