EA Montreal, a studio of Electronic Arts Inc., has announced that renowned film composer Tyler Bates will be creating the score for the highly-anticipated Third-Person Co-Op Shooter Army of Two: The 40th Day. The sought-after composer, best known for his work on the blockbuster films 300 and Watchmen, is crafting an immersive score that will highlight the epic co-operative battles gamers and their friends will face in the first major videogame release of 2010.

Army Of Two: The 40th Day Producer, Matte Turner, in a recent interview with PLAY magazine, reckons that retailers must "hate them", after the recent release of its download-only PSPgo.

Turner also reckons the whole "download only thing is very cool", pointing to the fact that the end of discs is potentially far closer than we think, he goes on "It's all going that way and Sony is going that way early. The Army of Two movie will run on a "different path" to that of the games, EA has said.

In October last year the Army of Two movie was confirmed to be in the works at studio Universal, with Bourne Ultimatum writer Scott Z. Burns in charge of penning the script.

In the original report, Variety claimed that EA was "attached as a producer", giving the US company "a whole higher level of involvement in how the end product turns out".

However, speaking to VideoGamer.com, EA Montreal vice president and general manager Alain Tascan said that while EA was "working with" Burns, it was taking a hands-off approach to the creation of the script.
