EA has announced that the Need for Speed franchise has surpassed 100 million units sold life to date. The recent release of Need for Speed Shift pushed the franchise over the 100M mark, making it the best-selling racing brand in the gaming world. The franchise has generated over $2.7 billion in life-to-date sales.

Many years ago there was a video games crash in which any developers and publishers went bust almost every week. It was a slump for video gaming and the industry took years to recover. With the current economic crisis it has been speculated that we too would see a crash in the market, and it looks true.

GCO had a chance to speak to an EA spokesperson and according to them, Black box studios is not closed. It is going to relocate to [EA's] Burnaby facility in June 2009.

November the 18th is finally here and the 12th installation of Need for Speed, NFS: Undercover, is finally here. Unfortunately only North Americans are getting to enjoy the game, but don't despair because the European release is less than 3 days away from now.

Black Box unveiled today the online modes in Need for Speed: Undercover. The newest mode is called Cops and Robbers. This team-based mode pits two teams of four players against each other in the ultimate battle-royale. Robbers must pick up the package and take it to the drop-off point while the cops attempt to prevent the delivery. Each game consists of two rounds giving the players the chance to play as cops and robbers. Up to eight players will also be able to prove their driving prowess in sprint and circuit multiplayer race modes.
