It's obvious that there are various pockets of different users visiting the store, and it's our job to try and make sure there's a good mixture of content available, so whilst there won't always be something for everyone every week, I think we're offering a very diverse range of content to suit most people's tastes.

EA has announced that the Need for Speed franchise has surpassed 100 million units sold life to date. The recent release of Need for Speed Shift pushed the franchise over the 100M mark, making it the best-selling racing brand in the gaming world. The franchise has generated over $2.7 billion in life-to-date sales.

Many years ago there was a video games crash in which any developers and publishers went bust almost every week. It was a slump for video gaming and the industry took years to recover. With the current economic crisis it has been speculated that we too would see a crash in the market, and it looks true.

Shiny sport cars and ladies lacking clothes go together like¿ errrr selling and sex, so it wasn't entirely surprisingly to see EA promoting the latest version of Need For Speed in conjunction with The Sun's Page 3 girls Becky and Amii. Or was it?

Electronic Arts believes its forthcoming racing title Need for Speed ProStreet will win the race to become this year's Christmas number one video game. A Need for Speed game has been Christmas number one for four of the last five years, with FIFA only pipping it to the post last year in a debatable count back, said Steve Farrell, senior product manager at EA. We are confident the increased quality of the game this year ¿ as well as our extensive marketing campaign, with support throughout the run-up to Christmas ¿ will help to re-establish a Need For Speed game at number one. EA has released a brand new trailer for the upcoming racer, Need For Speed: Pro Street. And this one's all about the smoke effects.
There's not that long to go now until the launch of EA's new Need For Speed title; it's out around October. This time round the focus is on realism, but it's not really going after the likes of GT or Forza.
"We're definitely not looking to make a simulation. I think 'simulation' is a bit of a dirty word," producer John Doyle recently told us.

You know what's always been missing from Need For Speed? Smoke. Lots and lots of smoke. Fortunately, that's just what we're treated to in this fresh footage from NFS Pro Street, the semi-reinvention of the flashy racing series.
We have to say we like what we see. Regular videogame smoke/steam/mist can be so, well, wispy - but this is top-grade billowing clouds of the stuff, like the spouting steam of a red-hot kettle trapped at boiling point or a smoldering tire wedged in a roasting

Former Big Brother contestant Krystal Forscutt has taken her first step towards international fame by being chosen as a character in a popular video game. Forscutt is one of two females who feature as a digital version of themselves in Need For Speed's new ProStreet computer game, to be released later this year, with a potential worldwide audience of 40 million gamers. It's my first sort of international appearance, I guess, Forscutt told the Sunday Telegraph.
