Lost game not actually lost

Ubisoft confirm Lost videogame is still on schedule for 2007

Originally announced in a press release back in May 2006 for PC and next-gen consoles, the game tie-in to cult TV show Lost has been mysteriously enigmatic since with not a single screenshot or piece of game information being released.

In fact, we'd probably have forgotten about it almost entirely had Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot not mentioned it was still very much in development to a room full of journalists at a press conference last month. Strange then, that Lost is absent from Ubisoft's most recent release schedule - as it has been for as long as we can remember.

So where is it? Well according to a Ubisoft representative it's alive and well in the Montreal studio and is still officially planned to hit shelves before 2007 is out.

This suggests two things. First, it's not going to come out in 2007 at all - it goes without saying that the only guarantee of a game hitting a release date is when you have it in your hand in the store.

Or second, the developer has realized it's quite difficult to make a game about a TV show where no-one really knows what the hell is going on and decided to make a Lost trivia game instead that will be released as a PSP stocking filler round Christmas with little fanfare or PR attention.

Those are our theories anyway. For more of our meanderings read some more chin-stroking here.

Bonus, sort of related, could it be a coincidence?, Lost-themed fact:

Ubisoft had another game due for release in 2002 called (dah, dah, DAAAAH) The Lost. And... it never came out.

Read into that what you will.
