God of War + Goat x Breasts = Slaughter Party!
We couldn't really understand why rabid UK tabloid The Mail on Sunday was frothing at the mouth quite so vigorously over Sony's silly PR stunt - involving a near-beheaded goat and plentiful ladyflesh. After all, we've seen far more shocking scenes at countless other decadent press events. And, anyway, where the hell was our invite to this bare-breasted, gore-flecked, offal-eating shindig? Shame on you, Sony. Shame on you.

Sony versus The Church
Another bizarre run-in for Sony against the real world, this, as 'officials' from Manchester Cathedral threatened legal action if Sony didn't apologise for setting part of Resistance: Fall of Man in the 800-year-old building, and then remove the location from the game. WTF? Quite.
Sony was cute in pointing out that "Resistance is not based on reality," in case anyone from The Church worried otherwise. Funnily enough, the Bishop of Manchester inadvertently complimented Resistance, stating that it recreated the building with "photo-realistic quality", as he protested that Sony was "[encouraging] people to have gun battles" in the Cathedral. You couldn't make this stuff up.
Assassin's Creed dies at E3
How do we conjure up an image to illustrate our gobsmacked impressions of the Assassin's Creed demo at E3? The game that had fired our imaginations with its compelling central idea and setting just about fell apart before our eyes. Apparently, Ubisoft Montreal's demo had been rushed out, due to Bungie not being able to get a playable version of Halo 3 ready for the show, and Microsoft needing a replacement to show off.
So it wasn't the end of the world - we ended up giving the game a 10, for pity's sake - but even Jade Raymond's amusing squeak of alarm as a corpse hung in mid-air during the demo wasn't enough to save our hopes from being dashed like a petrified baby seal on the rocks of reality.
