Christmas console war!

We help you decide which one to get

Words: Games Master UK

Xbox 360
Price:
$279 (£179) - $449 (£299)

The 360 should be celebrating a very successful 2007, with sales growing and a slew of great exclusive games. Unfortunately the Red Ring of Death problem (a hardware fault where the lights around the power button light up to indicate a busted machine) reared its ugly head as many gamers returned their console to Microsoft for repair - leading to an irritating wait for it to be returned again. So a mixed 12 months…

Need to know:
There are three models available: Core (no hard drive, wired pad) - $279 (£179), Premium (20GB hard drive, wireless pad) - $349 (£249), and Elite (120GB hard drive, wireless pad, black) - $449 (£299). We'd recommend going for a Premium machine everything being equal. You'll want a hard drive to get the most out of Xbox Live and play games like GTA IV but the Elite model is a bit of a stretch for storage space you don't really need.
