Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce

Bursting with new ideas – seriously

After years of being more resistant to change than the Catholic Church, Strikeforce sees the Dynasty Warriors series loosen up and play around with a few new ideas. Unsurprisingly, it feels a lot fresher for it.

Four-player co-op is the stand out new feature which transforms DW’s signature epic battles from fields of chafe to scythe into an opportunity for strategic delegation. But even if you struggle to find others to hack and slash with, the single-player game has been pepped up with multi-tier environments, jumping and mid air combos – suddenly, the soldier-harvesting game has a bit of Devil May Cry bounce about it.

Of course, what might be new for Dynasty Warriors is old news for any other action RPG – Strikeforce does little to entice newcomers to the franchise. Still, it’s pleasing to report that the series has a pulse and is still capable of surprising us.
