Three PSP titles appear on the PSN bestsellers list for October. Makes sense, considering the launch of the all-digital PSP Go. Surprisingly, the much-anticipated Gran Turismo PSP didn't top the charts. Instead, PSone classic Final Fantasy VII takes the lead once again, undoubtedly boosted by nostalgic RPG players wanting to relive Cloud Strife's cross-dressing adventure on the Go. PSPFanboy: The results are in, and the annual 2008 PlayStation Awards out of Japan is now a wrap. The handing out of awards commemorates successful titles over the past year. It highlight the best of the best and honors titles that have sold more than 500,000 units with a Gold Award, and those which sold over a million with a Platinum Award.

Both Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and Phantasy Star Portable have earned for themselves a Gold Award; however, the true star this year is Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G. It has earned for itself a double-Platinum Award for being the only title (not only from PSP, but out of the entire PlayStation family) to sell more than two million copies in Japan this year. Congratulations to all the games that have won recognition.

The game to watch out for seems to be Dragon Quest IV which, despite a late North American and European release, exploded in the Japanese market to outsell all other Nintendo system games including Final Fantasy IV.

I'm not entirely sure if it's the late release of DQ IV behind its poor North American sales (only 90K units sold vs Japan's 1.1M) or if something was lost in the English version. I vote the former since it was still ranked 18th out of 20 greatest games ever on the NES in an issue of Nintendo Power.

Dissidia Final Fantasy details have once again been spotted and this time, they're coming from Japanese game magazine Famitsu. the game's producer Tetsuya Nomura, director Takeshi Arakawa, and planning director Mitsunori Takahashi all sat down with the publication and answered a few questions.

First on the agenda was the question of why the game is taking so long to finish. The devs answered that the team doing it is pretty young and adjusting was one of the most time-consuming parts of development. As for how far along into completion the team has gone, they said they're at about 50 percent and that character models are almost completely sealed.

The CRISIS CORE - FINAL FANTASY VII PSP bundle will be available on June 20, 2008 for 189.99 Euros. The bundle will also include the Crisis Core PSP game. A limited edition silver PSP of Final Fantasy VII was released in Japan on September 13, 2007, where only 77,777 units were sold. No word on how limited this release will be.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII--the much awaited PSP game that was released in the US in March this year--has finally been confirmed for release in Australia. Ubisoft has announced it will distribute the role-playing game down under for developer Square Enix, although no fixed date has been set for release.

In addition to Crisis Core, Ubisoft has also won the Australian distribution duties for some other key Square Enix titles. Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors for the Nintendo Wii is slated for an autumn 2008 release, while Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift for the DS is due in winter this year. Arkanoid DS and Space Invaders Extreme for the DS and the PSP have also been dated for winter 2008.

Square Enix has been publishing the final version of their North American Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII website by mistake for the past three days, and today we finally got a hold of all the details. First, of course, there's Episode 3.

Next up are the official launch event details. It will be located at PlayStation @ Metreon, San Francisco at March 25, 2008. Opening hours are 18:00 to 21:00 PM, the first 200 people are guaranteed a copy of the game. First 100 will receive a free T'. There will also be a raffle that includes limited FF merchandise and lithograph. They also say a "Shinra ID Card" will be created on-site with the name of the person and his photo.

Square Enix's Tokyo Game Show lineup, announced today in Tokyo, is full of surprises, both good and bad. It turns out, for instance, that Dragon Quest IX will be shown, although in video form only. Also surprising is the video-only showing of The Last Remnant. That game appeared to be far enough along at the Square Enix Party earlier this year that IGN was expecting a playable debut.

The good news: those who want to get their hands on the Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII PlayStation Portable bundle but don't live in Japan can now get them from NCSX.com. The bad news: it's gonna cost you.

NCSX has just confirmed that they will be able to stock 750 pieces of the bundle, which will reportedly be enough to fill all of their pre-order requests so far. The bundle will cost much higher than the retail price in Japan, though. Those who go an pre-order one will have to drop US$ 409 - not including shipping - on the bundle.

And here's what everyone's been waiting for. Hideo Kojima demonstrated the gameplay segment of Metal Gear Solid 4 on actual PS3 hardware for the first time. Kojima showed Snake using his camo suit to disguise himself as a bronze statue, hide in barrels and trash cans. He also showed Snake knocking down enemies rolling the barrel while he is still inside it. After feeling some discomfort, Snake "revives" as he is given a female idol magazine. The producer also revealed that an online multiplayer mode will be in the game and more details will be announced at the 20th Anniversary Party next week.

The contents of that mysterious "Final Fantasy VII 10th Anniversary Limited" package for Crisis Core have finally been revealed. One of the many PSP-related surprises at today's PlayStation Premier press conference in Tokyo, Square Enix announced that the package will bundle Crisis Core with an exclusive Buster Sword strap and a limited edition PSP.

Sephiroth

Handheld RPGs usually fall short in terms of game length when compared to their console counterparts. However, this will not be the case with Square-Enix's upcoming Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII for PSP. Director Hajime Tabata has stated that Crisis Core's main quest will deliver approximately 30 hours of gameplay, while tackling additional side-quests and collecting all available Materia will further extend the gameplay experience to over 100 hours total.
