Sorry, but this isn't next gen. This is barely mid-range and hardly current tech. But at least we might see some games a little bit better than the horror show 360 and ps3 have been. Secondly, if heat worries you, I hope you don't turn anything on. Cellphones, tablets, laptops, PCs, can openers, microwaves, AA batteries and everything else gets hot. Most stuff runs at 100 degrees. Oh yeah and the human body temperature is near 98.5... My how fun it is to see ignorant fools getting suckered into instigated controversy. PS4 is the better choice, why? Because Xbone has no idea what gamers want. They're a marketing menace, they will make so many FPS and other boring games that you will wish you had something like Uncharted, Last of Us, Infamous, Killzone, Resistance, Folklore, ICO, Shadow Of Collosus, and god only knows what else they have in store for us. Sorry, but the quality of exclusives are on PS3/PS4. Does that mean I am a PS3/PS4fanboy? Not really. I bought both 360 and ps3, but wound up getting rid of the 360. I got sick of weak games with no story, Sony brought interesting stories, and cutting edge controllers. Also their subscription just hands you free games. Turns out they care about their gamers. Microsoft has no clue how to handle them. Would I jump ship the minute games and services become better on Xbone? Yes... Because I am not loyal to a company who can't stay competitive. Xbone is way behind in terms of exclusive content and service. But as always I am watching... Waiting to be a consumer. For now PS4 is the better choice, the games will come and I will be enjoying the best exclusives. I also have a PC, so anything Xbone releases will come out for PC as well. No loss on skipping Xbone. So, enjoy your ridiculous controversy, and console "war" because it is meaningless. Anybody who buys Xbone is missing out on some amazing art from Sony. While Xbone offers you a more expensive and boring tech. That's not to say they will have some good games... But they haven't matched SCEA but we shall see if they manage to make an interesting game. There's a reason the greats from bungie left, peter moluneux left, and I am sure any other creative mind. Sales and marketing are what Microsoft care about. Gamesradar only cares about headlines that spark controversy. We haven't had support for the real next gen for years. Still don't, and probably never will because consoles sell the games. More to the point, people pay for the same rehashes, and developers do not push systems or creativity. Because they want games to break record sales... They are too scared to take any chances on new games that aren't the same genre or the same story or the same results. Because people keep buying the same game with a different theme. It is never going to change until people realize that they vote with their dollar. Until then, I will support the system that has the better service. That is Sony. I realize most people don't care about story and gameplay anymore, all they want is their multiplayer death match. So I expect those who don't care to choose whatever system they have had. That's fine too. There is no reason to insult people for their choices, we are going to co exist regardless. Why would you want to fight with people you must co exist with? Now that is stupid!

Seriously though, the 360 has pretty much all the exact same games the PS3 has, I know that, because I have both. I don't see how you can say the 360 has no good stories, based just on a few exclusives the PS3 has, though I do agree, it does have better exclusives then the 360. You seem to think all anyone with a 360 plays is COD, and even you know that's not true at all. You seem to think MS only cares about money, and Sony doesn't, well you'd be wrong there. Gaming is a business, it's all about the money. Sony wants money just as much as MS does. They don't care about you, they care about your money.
  • groovieknave - November 16, 2013 4:12 p.m.

That's not an insult... Its the truth. How many exclusives can you name on 360 that aren't FPS and have a good story?
  • Earthbound_X - November 16, 2013 6:22 p.m.

You didn't say exclusives with good story, you said good story period. Either way, I wish I could have deleted my comments, I need to stop wasting my time on crap like this. I have both system, and I will have both a One and a PS4, so this crap means nothing to me. Which one is better is pointless, what you said at the end of your first comment, after bashing MS the whole time. It just seemed really hypocritical. I would have commented the same way, if you were bashing Sony instead, bashing game companies is a waste of time. They are big giant corporations, they don't care about us, or deserve this misplaced loyalty. I'm am confused on you bashing First Person Shooters, but then bringing up both Killzone, and Resistance as good things though. Admittedly I've only played the Resistance games, and while they are good, the stories are nothing special. Nor is Killzone's from what I hear. So it's OK when Sony does it? But not MS huh?
  • groovieknave - November 16, 2013 7:16 p.m.

It's okay man, relax. I wasn't bashing them, the point of the post isn't to say who is better. The point is choose what you want and not insult each other, and I stated my opinion that I feel Sony is the clear winner yet I would jump ship as soon as Microsoft made the better service. I just pointed out that Microsoft isn't doing well enough nor has it to me, been a better service than Sony to prove my point. There is nothing wrong with FPS, as I have said, nothing at all wrong with loving death match. But Sony just tells a better story with exclusives, you can get everything else on PS that you can get on Xbox, so what is the point of owning both when one is clearly better (especially when you own a PC?) Again, I am just saying I sided with one for the services, but I am not loyal or a fanboy to any product or manufacturer because I am a consumer... I will take the best. You should too. If you feel like both are good for you then go ahead, that's what I thought previously. But as my post says I wound up choosing one for what I thought was better. See what I am saying now? I am not exactly bashing, I am just choosing the one I like best and giving a reason why. But no need to insult each other like everyone else is doing... We will coexist regardless. Both will sell well, both will come out with games people like, but why can't we just accept that there is multiple choices and not get sucked into controversy? And like I said, the console war is meaningless. So yeah arguing over certain parts of my post that were just getting to the point is meaningless. I did say that if Xbone ever became a better service I would jump ship on Sony. If Nintendo ever stopped catering to the family friendly I could consider them as well.
  • Earthbound_X - November 16, 2013 7:22 p.m.

Yeah, I get you, like I said, I wish I could have deleted my comments after I made them. As for Nintendo, I still love them, but the Wii U doesn't have enough games yet, so I don't have one. But once a new Zelda is announced I'll be getting one. I see no problem with Family Friendly either, are there really people who only play M rated games? I love the Lego series for example, can't be blood and guts 24/7, that would get really dull. Nintendo still makes the best first party games.
  • groovieknave - November 16, 2013 4:20 p.m.

Anyway I didn't say people are dumb for death match I just don't find that fun. As far as 360 goes, there's forza, halo, gears of war, and fable, I would say Alan wake but that's on PC as well. I don't know about you but I would rather play killzone, resistance, uncharted, god of war, infamous, folklore, ICO, gran turismo, met gear solid (some of them) blah blah blah...

"Until then, I will support the system that has the better service. That is Sony." Correcion. That's Valve :) Other than that, good rant, Sir, good rant!

Haha gotta say you might be right on that but was referring to ps4 vs Xbone. We shall see how affordable steambox is... I will laugh if their box is better hardware and same price!
  • genehunt - November 16, 2013 7:58 a.m.

By now we should be expecting any new tech to have teething problems, but there is a warranty to use, so play the crap out of it, if it's gonna fail it'll most likely be in the first few months, like the first 360, i went through 3 in the first year, the original ps3 60gb lasted 3 years before it got the YLOD, no problems with either of the slims, so, like my old granny used to say, we'll just have to suck it and see!
  • freeden - November 16, 2013 7:55 a.m.

Definitely worth picking up at launch. Been loving the machine. There's a lot of good right out of the box and a lot more to come in the future. Already having fun on it, can't wait for what's to come.
  • travis-keeler - November 15, 2013 2:55 p.m.

I have to say I'm excited. I have never owned a playstation before and I'm ready for something new. I love Nintendo and Microsoft but it is time to try something else. Xbox has just lost its appeal to me.

@ikcheverlet021 Thank you for being an even bigger douche than me. The internet needs your kind.
  • lkchevrolet021 - November 15, 2013 3:42 p.m.

If you would take the time to read previous comments, you would notice a trend of everyone overreacting about the heat of the system. Ya it may be an issue, but as of yet nothing is wrong. People are writing off the system because it gets hot. All systems get hot. So I am confused by your comment.
  • JADENkOTOR - November 15, 2013 4:43 a.m.

I'm not going to lie, I left gamesradar when many members of the old staff moved on. I thought the site was going to go to shit and the new staff would try to make an ign clone. I'm happy to say RadioRadar has completely won me over, and I have realized that I am a douche.
  • dangomushi - November 15, 2013 10:45 a.m.

    we're all douches.

    Hurrah! Welcome back :D

I just gotta say, the feeling of pre-order of a new system at a midnight release is awesome. I walked past a huge line at 12:15am (they probably were standing there since 8pm...), walked in, paid, and was in my car driving back home 5 minutes later. Poor guys/gals in line still standing there...
  • lkchevrolet021 - November 14, 2013 7:30 p.m.

Thanks Gamesradar for freaking everyone out about heat issues. Seriously people, there will never be a gaming console (or any device with a CPU) that does not get hot. That is how it works. It is a good thing that the heat is going out of the system, and not staying inside frying anything. The 360 had issues because of poor solder and cheap hardware. The entire backside of the PS4 appears to be nothing but vents, I doubt there will be an issue.
  • Eightboll812 - November 14, 2013 11:12 p.m.

It's a good point and I tried to say something similar below. Sometimes cooling is paradoxical in observation. For example, when you cease feeling warm air out the back of a PS3, you might be headed toward YLOD. Feeling heat blowing out is actually a good sign. I think the concern here is that if the whole case is hot, it's gotta be scorching inside. We will have to see how these launch units hold up over time.
