WWE SmackDown! vs RAW 2008

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008

The only official WWE video game is feeling froggy, as it's taking the fight to nearly every platform on the market

Though they probably won't feature Donald Trump shaving the head of WWE chairman Mr. McMahon like this year's WrestleMania, both the wrestling and gaming worlds are eagerly anticipating what the next round of WWE-licensed titles will hold. In much the way Vince McMahon will be more aerodynamic without his gray coiffure, the SmackDown vs. Raw series is streamlining to be even more intuitive to control while also offering more gameplay depth.

As the former rogue promotion of Extreme Championship Wrestling is now under the WWE banner, expect to see ECW represented in 2008. They will have equal billing with the other two brands (Raw and SmackDown), sharing a portion of the 50-person roster, and will even bring their own commentary team of Tazz and Joey Styles to call the hardcore action.

Superstars themselves have been broken up into different fighting styles - each with its own exclusive abilities and match specialties. A dirty wrestler like Randy Orton can use the ref as a human shield to avoid damage, then throw him at an opponent. Powerhouses like Lashley and Batista will be able to use a stored finishing move to automatically kick out of pins. Then there are high flyers like Rey Mysterio, who will have even more daring acrobatic moves in more situations. WWE Superstars will have primary and secondary styles, and you'll be able to choose them for your created character. In this way, each wrestler will be more unique to control, prompting you to want to stray from your favorite sports entertainer.
