From GIBiz: Sony's Liverpool studio has spoken out for the first time on the problems caused by WipEout HD's failure of a routine epilepsy test.
Chatting to our sister site Eurogamer.net at the Leipzig Games Convention last month, game director Tony Buckley revealed the headaches arising from the eleventh hour hitch. The game was being readied for release back in July, but there was what SCEE boss David Reeves described as a "specific technical problem" - later established to be issues that came up during the epilepsy screening procedure.
"[It was] frustrating more than anything, because it's quite subjective the whole test," said Buckley.

SCE Liverpool's downloadable hovercraft racer Wipeout HD will cost $19.99 when it arrives on PlayStation 3 later this year, producer Daimion Pinnock has confirmed.
"It's going to be $19.99," he told Shacknews. Essentially a "best-of," the game features 16 tracks culled from the franchise's various titles.
Pinnock also spoke on title's recent delay, rumored to be triggered by epilepsy concerns. While he did not address the supposed epilepsy issue, the producer stressed the importance of smooth online play and trophy support.

A Sony representative has confirmed to D+PAD that WipEout HD will be priced at £11.99 when it finally hits PlayStation Store.
The futuristic racing title, which was heavily delayed due to allegedly failing epilepsy tests, will also "probably be out late September" the rep told D+PAD, though a confirmed date will be announced late next week.

We've just heard that the European price for WipEout HD is going to be a cent under 18 Euros, so presumably £14.99 or similar in Albion, and it appears a few European sites are reporting the same thing.
We've not been told anything official from SCEE, mind, so chalk this up as a rumour just now until we get confirmation.

CVG: "We take consumer safety very seriously," Sony tells us.
Sony has issued a response after we learned that the silent delay of PSN title WipEout HD was due to it failing epilepsy tests.
CVG was told on Tuesday this week that WipEout "fails the epilepsy tests so much that it has to be re-engineered," hence the game's absence from E3, despite us having had what appears to be a near complete version for AGES.
Sony has neither confirmed or denied the report, only saying CVG: "Regarding the speculation about health issues, we can assure you that we take consumer safety very seriously and monitor it very carefully."

Following reports concerning the delay to Wipeout HD and suggestions that the game had failed an epilepsy test, a SCEE representative today provided TVG with an official response.
"The reason for the delay of WipEout HD on PS3 has been due to the many improvements we have been making and the numerous features we've added to the game. These include: 8 reverse tracks, 4 extra ships, 2 alternative HUDS, 2 Player offline split screen and XMB Trophy support. We look forward to sharing WipEout HD with you very soon."

Eurogamer: "WipEout HD has yet to be released because of a 'specific technical problem', but Sony hopes it will be out 'before the end of the year'.
'There is a specific technical problem with WipEout that we have to solve. I can't go into details but it is a really, really tricky technical problem that no region has been able to solve at the moment,' Sony Europe boss David Reeves told us when we hassled him about the game's progress this week at LA."

Two new up and coming titles from Sony have recently been rated by the ESRB. There doesn't seem to be a way to get a direct link of the titles, but if you just search either title it will come up on the site. Of the two titles only one is well known about, and that is WipEout HD. As for The Last Guy, the details on this game have been pretty scarce. There have been a lot of rumors that it is an I Am Legend type game though, but that's all they are is rumors. The two ratings follow.

French site Jeuxvideo is reporting that Wipeout HD will be available from PSN on May 29.
The game will run at 60 FPS and have full 1080p support. It's well up there on VG247s most wanted list.
No price has been disclosed and no official word from Sony as of yet.
