PS3Hype writes: 'Sony has just released a new patch for WipEout HD. Patch 1.30 will add some new stuff to the game. But when you download the patch, your PS3 will crash every time when it is loading the savedata from the game on your PS3. So the best solution is to plug out your internet connection when you want to play WipEout HD (if you don't downloaded the patch already).'

How to fix?
Before you start the game just sign out from the PlayStation Network. When you do this and you start the game, this time you will get trought the loading screen. When the game is started up, you can press the PS button to sign in to the PSN again.

Update includes an all-new podium that displays the top three finishers after each online race or tournament.

A promotion is apparently being held by Sony in Austria, where you get a redeemable voucher to download WipEout HD off the Austrian PSN store for free.

All that is required is to simply register an Austrian PSN account, the promotion is said to have started yesterday (March 16th) and will finish on April 18th.

Developer Evolution Studios were purchased by Sony Entertainment in 2007, and have since released a successful sequel to their racing classic MotorStorm.

WipEout HD is hard. If you've played the game, you probably know that and, if the newest patch is anything to go by, the developers at Studio Liverpool have also realized this. Updating the game to version 1.20, which will happen as soon as you start the game, will make getting medals in campaign mode a lot easier. You can now change the difficulty setting within campaign mode to novice, skilled or elite, just like in other modes. This changes the medal requirements, making completing the game a much simpler experience.

Sony have today release the version 1.1 patch for Wipeout HD which fixes issues that users were having when signing into the network.

Since the game was released users with more than 50 friends had been experiencing a complete system freeze when logged into their profile and attempting to play the gaming, the only fix until now was to sign out of your profile and then play offline. Thankfully the new patch has resolved these issues, so there should be a lot more people playing online from now on.

Today Playfire launched a major update to the PF trophy system. We've overhauled the profile page trophy module significantly. It now functions like an overview and takes up way less profile page space. To do this we've moved all the trophies listed here previously to a brand new trophy cabinet page (but more on that later Wink). PS3 Vault has some possible helpful tips in order to prevent Wipeout HD crashing on your PS3.

1. Sort out your buddy list – It usually works if you have 50 friends or less.
2. Then delete both the "Wipeout game" game file plus the system key * Found in system data* .
3. Go to your download list, and then install the "Full Game Key" (100kb) File first.
4. Download "Wipeout hd" file.
5. After completion, install the game then, turn your Playstation 3 system off at the back of the console.
6. Disable the screensaver option, Found in settings, on the Playstation 3 XMB.
7. Launch the game, and hopefully your good to go."

How to put it on Ps3 :

1. Unzip the package
Unzip the package on a USB key. Select "Extract Here" if you can. There should be 2 folders in your jumpdrive's root directory, "MUSIC" and "PICTURE".
2. Plug it in your PS3 to copy files
Plug this drive into your PS3, and go to the Picture icon in the XMB, select the Jumpdrive and you can download the album art to your PS3. Go to the Music icon in the XMB, select the Jumpdrive and you will see G.A.M.E. 3.0. Hit Triangle button and select "Copy", it will be copied to your PS3 Hard Drive.
3. Create a new Playlist
Then go to Playlists and select "Create New Playlist". Name it "G.A.M.E. 3.0". Select that playlist, hit Triangle Button and select "edit". You can now add all the G.A.M.E. 3.0 tracks into the playlist in any order you like.

We've played the review code to death that Sony passed along a while ago but we've now got WipEout HD installed on our PS3s at home via PSN. One thing we noticed though was a very serious health warning that you confirm you've read by pressing 'X' on the pad:

"Always play in a well lit environment. Take regular breaks, 15 minutes every hour. Discontinue playing if you experience dizziness, nausea, fatigue or have a headache.

"Some individuals are sensitive to flashing or flickering lights or geometric shapes and patterns, may have an undetected epileptic condition man may experience epileptic seizures when watching television or playing videogames.

"Consult your doctor before playing videogames if you have an epileptic condition and immediately should you experience any of the following symptoms whilst playing; altered vision, muscle twitching, other involuntary movement, loss of awareness, confusion and / or convulsions."
