White Knight Chronicles adds Home Rewards, Voice chat goes live (News)

Sony and Level 5 games have finally released the much-anticipated update for PS3 exclusive RPG White Knight Chronicles that allows players to use voice chat in game in towns and during quests.

In addition to the voice chat update the game adds Playstation Home awards, which will allow players to unlock clothing and accessories for your PS Home avatar by completing certain tasks.

White Knight Chronicles EX Edition gets Bonus Items (News)

Japanese gamers are set to get some cool in-game bonuses for picking up the new 'EX Edition' of White Knight Chronicles.

While the EX Edition is just the original version of White Knight Chronicles with all the updates released after the game originally came out included on the disc, the game will also come with a redeemable Playstation Network code which will offer some exclusive download items for players to use in game.

While this won't be enough reason to get Japanese gamers to buy the game again, those who missed out can now pick up an up-to-date version of the game with some extra bonus items included.

The game goes on sale on October 8th for the bargain basement price of 3,800 Yen.

Sony and Level 5 have partnered to offer new downloadable content for White Knight Chronicles via Playstation network for free.

The DLC sends you on a quest to take out some Wind Dragons that'll net players some cool rewards. The DLC hits Japan on September 10th and is absolutely free.

White Knight Chronicles is still awaiting a Western release a full year after its Japanese launch, and is expected to launch in a similar time-frame to Final Fantasy XIII.

We've been trying to get a handle on the plethora of PlayStation games that will be on display from June 2 through June 4, and it's quite astounding. Confirmed content this week is pretty scarce. However what is confirmed is an exciting offering, mainly due to Zen Pinball. Texas Cheat Em will make the poker fans happy. Of course there is the weekly Rock Band and Guitar Hero DLC to look forward to. We are expecting a PSP game, as Sony makes more PSP games available as a digital download.

The PS3 exclusive White Knight Chronicles has now set a benchmark for 2nd week sales. After selling more than 200,000 in it's first week, the title continues to sell, according to the latest Famitsu numbers. Though it slipped from 1st to 6th overall in the rankings in it's second week, White Knight still sold 74,000 copies, which sets the record for best 2nd week of sales. It beat out Metal Gear Solid 4 and Devil May Cry 4, which went from 480,000 to 64,000 and 212,000 to 34,000, respectively.

The new update adads a few new characters in the Character screen (one is a creepy old man) as well as some brand new enemies in the World screen (shown above). Famitsu has revealed that White Knight story would be coming to PS3 exclusively in Japan on 25/12/2008

The much anticipated title has also been renamed as:-

"White Knight Chronicles -Heartbeat of the Ancients- / -Ancient Pulse-"

Famitsu further reveals some interesting info on the title. According to the developer Ryko WKS is:-

"-Largest/most extravagant title he's ever worked on and will more than likely remain that way.

-Alludes to being interested in producing a sequel...WKC is probably only the first chapter in an epic story

-Includes an aspect which go beyond typical RPG gameplay which is only possible on PS3, but hasn't been revealed yet "

With no clear release date in sight, we can only marvel and gaze at the new snippits of artwork and graphical prowess Level 5 is preparing to woo us with. The scans predominantly showcase the different Knights you'll either encounter or gain the ability to become (since we can't read Japanese we're just guessing here), but there are a few pieces of scenery and character art to check out as well. That Level 5 mascot, the purple toad thing, even makes an appearance."

Three PS3 Rumors in Famitsu with White Knight Story's Release Date (News)

onAXIS reports three rumors originated from the latest Famitsu magazine issue (9/18/2007.) One of the rumors says White Knight Story will debut on January 31, 2008 for 8,990 yen (US$78 or 56 Euros.)

The other two rumors are about a "megaton" announcement at the Tokyo Game Show that will supposedly save PS3 (onAXIS questions if the "megaton" could be the Final Fantasy VII remake) and a third-party game with development totally funded by Sony.

It's been almost one year since we last saw or heard anything from White Knight Story, PS3's impressively-animated and glossy RPG from Dragon Quest creator Level 5. But this fresh handful of images, showing both cutscene and gameplay action, suggest the game is still looking promising. The latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly's Quartermann rumor mill is coming with a fresh set of rumors to peruse. The juiciest hearsay is that Capcom's Bionic Commando, once rumored to be getting the remake treatment, is now being developed as a full-fledged installment for the PlayStation Network.
