WET

How wet will Wet make you get?

Lady assassin game measured for moistness

These are effectively locked off areas where the enemies just keep on coming until Rubi has disabled all the spawn doors. And the Chinatown flavoured area we saw looked like a whole lot of gratifying fun. Cookie-cutter goons poured from windows ten at a time. Rubi would kill them. More goons. More killing. More goons. More killing. More goons. More killing. And so on.

The area looked neatly designed too, so there was plenty opportunity for Rubi to run, slide, jump, dive, swing and generally be impossibly ninja-like around the environment while maintaining an impressive kill tally. And all in slow motion, of course.

How wet did we get? Some non-odorous underarm gland leakage.

When something makes Rubi really mad, she goes into batshit crazy killing frenzy mode. Or 'Rage' mode as it's actually called in the game. They happen at scripted points and Rubi is virtually invincible for the duration of the Rage mode sequence. And, while raging, style goes out the window as point rewards are based purely on the volume of kills.

For some reason, Rage mode makes everything look a bit like Killer 7. It's all cel-shaded and arty looking and enemies disappear in a fizz bomb of molecules. But we're not complaining. It looks stylish. And we like stylish.

How wet did we get? Definitely some moisture around the thigh and groinal region.

Based on our demo, Wet makes us think a lot about Kill Bill and a bunch of decent games we've seen and played before. It's definitely no wave maker, but if the shooty-combat-sword-violence is enjoyable enough, we've no doubt that Wet will be well worth a sprinkle. If we were to convert our excitement into an arbitrary visual representation, we'd say we're about four full glasses of water wet for Wet right now.

It's a shame we're not more wet for Wet, because then we could have used the bikini hose down picture with at least some justification.

Got a question about Wet? Feel free to pop me a PM.

Honestly, this looks very run of the mill. Bethesda needs to stick to RPG's because their Star Trek game wasn't that good either.

This looks shite. Bethesda should be making the next Elder Scrolls game not run of the mill action games with moist gusset undertones.

It sounds like just another stress releasing killing game Bethesda should just stick to their guns

Alot of you ignorant kids seem to not understand something here- Bethesda is PUBLISHING this game, they haven't developed shit for it...
Elbo444  - 7 months 7 minutes ago
the main Wet page says it's published and developed by Sierra... but the article says it was shown by Bethesda... I'm confused

I really like the article though, even if the game seems like it will be mediocre

Not wet at all. Way too boobs-in-your-face already.

For once...I mean...just for once...Can we have a female game character who's NOT a sex object? Can we have a normal pretty girl wearing normal active clothing? Why Marcus Fenix can wear those heavey gears, we girls have to wear bikini (or something alone that line)?

I know sex sells, but sex is not the only thing that sells. Good action, clever level design, great storyline, solid character buidling also sells, and they sells better in the long run.

@ flourine: No way! whats the fun in a video game with a female if she isen't wearing a Bikini. The reason game devolopers do that is becouse thats what sells, the only game to do have a female without showing her body is Samus from Metroid but even at the end of the game they showed her in a bikini
fluorine  - 6 months 30 days ago
to RooringRA: LOL, I know I know...E cup in bikini give a bit of healthy shake, there you have it, that alone can sell any game (dead or alive beach volleyball, anyone?)
EcoEclipse  - 6 months 30 days ago
(Responding to Fluorine's original comment.) Did you not read this article? They made it clear that Rubi is not meant as a sex object. So yes, just once we did get a female game character that is not a sex object. (Although by saying "female game character," well, there's a lot of those. Maybe "female protagonist" would have been a better choice of words.

@fluorine's original comment: I know someone's gonna say it, so I guess I will: Portal.

And, like EcoEclipse said, they made it pretty clear that Rubi won't be used as a sex object. How about reading the article before you complain about it next time, eh?

the bethesda thing almost got me too. until about 5 minutes ago i didn't realize bethesda was also a publisher; i had a moment of hope for this game. unfortunately the developer's credits all seem to be licenced crap (and not even ps3/360 level licenced crap) so i'm not going to expect anything close to decent. but who am i to judge a game that isn't even out yet.

also elbo444, it seems that bethesda is publishing it in japan and na and sierra is publishing it in europe

yeah, it seems like this one really isn't bringing anything new to the table. and what is the deal with the unlimited ammo and no reloading??

I am tired of these damn bullet time obsessed third person action games. They should become what World War II games were, something you make fun of for the sheer volume of them. I am sick and angry of this bs.

1, Portal IS a great game with a female "protagonist" that doesn't posed as any sex object. And for that, I admit, I was wrong.

2, I did read the article, and yes, the designer said Rubi is not supposed to be a sex object. But the thing is, if sex appeal doesn't play a role here, why call it "wet" in the first place? Why show her in a tub? I guess using the bikini analysis is a bit misleading, and that's my fault. I used it simply to make a point, that we don't really bring out a true female "protagonist" that we female gamers can relate to.

The closest female characters I can think of is April in Longest Journey and Zeo in the sequel dream fall. Those are "normal" girls, that really don't play with the concept of sex appeal. And for that matter, I also really like Anya in Gears of War, although she's playing the usual female stereotype. I want to see someone like her be the main character. A woman designed for women, not a woman designed for men.

But...You guys are correct in one thing, it is way to early to make the judgement, and it is my fault to jump to conclusion, simply because the title is annoying (for me). Maybe she's like Joanna Dark, maybe she really has a personality, even some depth...who knows.

First off I gotta say I'm not terrible excited about this game because it seems to be a massive ripoff of all kinds of games such as Stranglehold. But thats ok, if it turns out to be a better looking Stranglehold, I'll play it anyway.

Next I'd like to point out to flourine that "'normal' girls" don't really do it for a game. Just like you don't really ever see any "normal" guys as the main character of any game. You hear alot of reviews claiming that your just an everyday average joe that happened to crash into the ocean (bioshock) but really there's nothing normal there cuz you still kick the bleeding shit outta everyone you see.

Normal doesn't sell. Normal is boring. Sex isn't needed to sell in theory but since a girl protaganist basically needs to be super amazing... sexyness is a bi-product.

Guy characters tend to super-freaking durable and rough around the edges and super-macho. Girls are freakishly acrobatic, tough and... well sexy. And that's how it should be.

Unless you're into dykes.
