Eventually, one of our opponents found a tank and blasted us out of ours. By the time we respawned, a few enemies had actually found their way into our camp, and so had to try and hunt them down by hopping into a jeep. When we failed to run one over, we tried manning the machinegun mounted on the back, Halo-style. But we missed and he ran into the garage, at which point we came face-to-face with our own tanks. These boxy monstrosities were markedly different from the other side's Abrams-style tanks, instead looking like something out of World War I with their gray steel and huge rivets. As we found out, though, their cannons packed the same punch.
As much as it felt like Battlefield 1942 with more interesting controls, we're really impressed by what we've seen of Warhawk. The visuals aren't exactly photorealistic, but the action is fast and chaotic enough that it doesn't really matter. While we haven't seen much yet of the single-player action, this is already shaping up to be one of the PS3's most promising first-generation games.
