"Calling all trench monkeys, starting next week, we will be running a Warhawk Competition open to 32 Three Speech users. There will be two preliminary sessions of 16 people with a final featuring the top four from each group, thus eight in total.

Listen closely as this is about to get detailed.

The first preliminary session will take place on Monday December 10 at 5pm (GMT) and will be made up of three games. The first two will be 10 minute warm ups - death matches. The third game will be a 15 minute dogfight to ensure it's a level playing field. The top four players from the dogfight will proceed to the final.

The second preliminary session will take place on Wednesday December 12, also at 5pm (GMT) and will be in the same format as the first preliminary session.

The final will take place on Friday December 14, again at 5pm (GMT), with eight finalists. There will be one 10 minute warm up game which will be a free for all. The final game to decide the first, second and third places will be a 20 minute dogfight.

The games need to start at 5pm (GMT) to ensure we can monitor the winners of each round. The password will only be given out to the 16 people playing in each game and we will need everybody's PSN ID so that we can verify the correct people are playing. Players can only take part on their allocated day.

To take part please make sure you will be available to play at 5pm (GMT) on all days and mail us at blog@threespeech.com with your name and PSN ID, so we can confirm your place in the respective game and send you the password.

The first, second and third place winners will receive a rather nice Warhawk trophy."

Three Speech just got a press release from Sony announcing the forthcoming expansion pack for Warhawk which is going by the name 'Operation: Omega Dawn'.

Operation: Omega Dawn pack features:
* Set at night for added impact and tension, the Operation: Omega Dawn pack for Warhawk features an enhanced level of teamwork, tactics and coordinated aerial assaults with the new KT-424 Combat Dropship.
* Omega Factory battlefield includes 5 new map layouts featuring advanced building complexes and huge industrial towers.
* KT-424 Combat Dropship transports 1 pilot, 6 soldiers and 1 ground vehicle; and features a deadly new weapon ¿ the MBEC-3 Heavy Support Cannon.

Ok, so your warhawk game isn't working since the new update. It says something like "you aren't the user for this" or something to that gist. Well you be glad to know that this happened to everyone in Europe. And you would also be glad to know that they are working on a fix for it.

The Warhawk 1.1 patch is now officially available for download. To get the latest patch, just launch your Warhawk game and you will be notified that the 1.1 update is available. The download is about 8.2 megs. If you managed to get the patch before today's official release, when it was accidentally released, you'll find there are fixes to the "viral-rank-up" and the "time-in-vehicle stat".

Next week, Sony Computer Entertainment America will be bringing its new PS3 brand campaign to TV. Unlike the initial "White Room" ads, these will focus on key titles and PS3 features. GameDaily Biz chat with Kim Ngyuen, SCEA Marketing Manager, about the new focus.

Kim Ngyuen says:

"We briefed the [ad] agency in April that we wanted to emphasize the entertainment qualities and show off the primary titles [for the PS3] this Holiday season," described Ngyuen when asked about how the campaign was initially envisioned. In the new Game Informer magazine, is mentioned a Warhawk expansion in December, here is what it says: There aren't any screens available yet, but we saw an early version of this expansion pack in action. The big news is the addition of a new vehicle: the dropship. Armed with six missiles turrets and the ability to pick up ground vehicles (like tanks), the dropship will sure change the face of battle - so much so that previous zones will be modified slightly to integrate the new vehicle.

A Sony Computer Entertainment spokesperson has confirmed to Level Up that sometime later this month, retailers will begin selling a $39.99 SKU of Warhawk that does not include the Bluetooth headset. When the game went on sale in August, two versions were available: a download-only version sold through the Playstation Network for $39.99, and Blu-Ray disc version with a Jabra Bluetooth headset packed in, for $59.99. With this price reduction, the retail and digitally distributed versions of Warhawk now sell for the same price.
