Someone at PS3Forums received an email about the Warhawk Beta via Sony's RLS program. All you have to do is complete a survey for a chance to get invited into the beta.
The Warhawk Website has been updated. It has several new features including 5 new videos, 17 new screenshots, and desktop downloads.
As positive buzz continues to build, most people seem to have gotten over the fact that Warhawk won't have any single-player content when it's released later this year.
As more and more favorable impressions are lumped on Warhawk, many have accepted the game's multiplayer focus and becoming more interested in when and how they can get their hands on the update to the PS One classic. Rumors had indicated Warhawk would become a PlayStation Network-only download, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
If you visit the Gaming portion of the Blu-Ray website, you'll actually see a nice description of one of the things that makes the Blu-Ray a potential winner in the households: games. The problem arises when you take a look at the latter portion of their write-up.
Sony has once again confirmed that WarHawk will ONLY be available as a download title for the time being. If the situation changes, a futher statement will be released.
The Sony team made waves last week when it announced that its flight-based actioner Warhawk would be playable only as an online experience. This lack of single-player support became an immediate point of speculation for Internet folk, who debated furiously as to whether or not this meant that the game would be downloadable from the PS Store file or available on a Blu-ray disc.
Dylan Jobe, game director for Warhawk, offered a glimmer of hope for PS3 fans who don't want to wait until this fall to play Sony's online-only dog-fighting title. Speaking to a gathering of bloggers, Jobe revealed that developer Incog and Sony were having internal discussions about having a public beta for Warhawk. Jobe believes a beta would be beneficial, acting as a demo and helping to stress-test Sony's servers.
Following months of Internet speculation, developer Incognito Entertainment has confirmed that PlayStation 3 title Warhawk will be sold only as a downloadable title via the PlayStation Network.
The hype train is now rolling and it's getting faster and faster.
For the second time in about as many months Sony is smashing the rumor that Warhawk is going to be downloadable only.
Since PlayStation 3 was originally unveiled at E3 2005, we've been lead to believe that Sony's been leading a crusade to resurrect Warhawk on the platform. It was also shown at Tokyo Game Show last fall, though we've heard nothing about the game since.
An interesting invitation was sent out to game blogs and websites from Sony Computer Entertainment America and Incognito Entertainment today:
Yesterday, RumorReporter.com posted an article titled "High Profile PS3 Title in Trouble." The site claimed an inside source working on a PlayStation 3 game said that development had "stalled completely." The company then brought in a new director to help salvage the project, but Sony Computer Entertainment America wants to cash out and "stop the bleeding," according to the insider. The source says that "infighting" and a "lack of clear direction" were the reasons for the game's crash, and that several employees have jumped ship and headed to other development studios.
One of the employees working on the title told Rumor Reporter that development on the game "stalled completely" due to "infighting and lack of clear direction" which apparently led to increasing costs, which then caused layoffs and some employees to leave the project altogether.
